Looks like more than a couple of nods to  Heatin the gameplay shown. This is a good thing. Gotta say, this looks pretty good.

Have you played Saints Row 3?

There is a button that does nothing but punch people in the nuts, and there's an entire minigame based around running down pedestrians.

/Also, upgrade the non-cop pistol to it's max level early.  10 hits brings down a helicopter and I once blew up a tank.
//And we can't forget the assault rifle that lights people on fire.
///For additional lulz, get some spare cash, shoot a bunch of people, and hole up in a gun shop.  I spent a half hour happily destroying the tanks the army sent after me (until I ran out of money), since I could buy more ammo every time I ran out.

GTA4 had a half a dozen nods to Heat. Including a bank heist mission that was almost shot for shot the main robbery from the film.

That looks awesome.  Back to a real open world rather than just a city.

So, I've a PS3 and an XBox 360. Which system do I buy it for? I own GTA 4 for XBox 360...

Did they actually remember to make a game this time, or is just driving around and running errands like GTA4?

That's what I get too.  Wonder how accurate that is of gameplay :)

played a little bit of SR3 during a free steam weekend. it was grin-inducing over-the-top fun. would buy if i didn't already have a huge games backlog.

SR4 looks like a hoot with aliens and Keith David starring as KEITH DAVID

Yeah, I have an XBox 360 sitting right behind my monitor, and I never use it cause it's a piece of crap compared to my PC.

My biggest problem with GTA IV was that rampages were significantly less fun.  The game also suffered from taking itself too seriously.  You are not a deep and poignant storyteller, game, you are a crime simulator that allows me to steal any car I want and drive around and cause mayhem.

2013-07-09 02:53:17 PM
Video didn't really hold my interest until the last five seconds about multiplayer.
The only half decent feature of GTA IV was it's multiplayer that had a pretty stable base but just needed to be expanded on. If they do it'll definitely be a day one purchase. More so if they allow for three player co-op throughout the story mode.

Otherwise I'll just hold out for the much superior in the single player category Saints Row.

If you ever get a chance pick up SR2 when it goes on sale again (usually $5)  get the Gentleman of the Row mod which fixes the buggy mess that is the PC port. I liked SR2 over SR3 personally as it wasn't so over-the-top; It felt like what GTA IV wanted to be.

I never experienced any of the problems with my PC version of GTA IV, other than the fact that the game itself sucked a special kind of ass. Between that and Assassin's Creed 3: Wander Through the Wilderness, I won't be pre-ordering any more games.

Switch to Saints Row and don't look back.  It is very much GTA minus all the serious business.

Hopefully the AI isn't a complete farktard.  The fact you control all 3 characters at once during (only some?) missions has me worried.  If they make it so the AI isn't stupid, and I can complete missions by only use 1 player (the other 2 actually doing what I want them to do, and don't have the aim of a storm trooper) i'll be happy.  If I'm expected to be switching from char to char, making sure that the char I left hanging outside of the window (for example from the trailer) doesn't get killed by a guy 2 feet in front of him because he doesn't feel the urgency to fire without me physically pressing a button, then it's going to be one giant POS escort mission.

I had never played any of the GTAs until IV.  I understand that a lot of people were unhappy with the amount of customization granted to Nico as opposed to previous installments but that is the main gripe I've heard.  I thought the story was really great (although there was a tad bit much of errand boy at times) if highly scripted.  Wouldn't have minded having conversation options while playing.  Even if they didn't impact the final outcome of the story there were plenty of times  I wanted to tell someone in that game to Fark off.  I hope GTA V has as good a story as IV.

Now Saints Row IV?  I'm really looking forward to this.  SR III had it all.  Great story, great game play, great driving, great customization, great music and over-the-top fun insanity.  One of my favorite games ever, and I'm usually an rpg person.

On that note I hope to hear something about a Sleeping Dogs 2.  Was an amazing story that got me emotionally involved with not only the main character but the supporting cast as well.

Considering they're just now posting job openings for the still-yet-to-be-confirmed PC release, yes that trailer is probably from a 360 or PS3 unfortunately unless they have a time machine.

Remember circa 1993 adventure games where you'd click on a pixel, and the character would take 15 minutes to walk there? Rockstar games seem to have borrowed heavily from that genre, including the lack of gameplay.

I'm more likely to agree with this, if for nothing else than the soundtrack. I mean, don't get me wrong, I loved how big SA was, and the variety of missions, and how it was modeled off LA/SF/Vegas; it was definitely fun, but Vice City was just fantastic.

I hate when the port is an exercise in laziness... And people wonder why their software gets pirated. It's not the cost as much as the cost vs. the quality. Maybe 5% of all games I've ever played have been worth $50.

I like both... I don't mind a storyline. Max Payne, Deus Ex, even Hitman, they all had fun storylines running through them. What I DON'T want is 5-10 minute cinemas that I can't skip, dumb little mini games, and things like having to go to the stupid gym.

2013-07-09 03:45:10 PM
I'll be getting it for the 360 initially. Later when the PC release is made available, I'll likely get that version. I love the PC version's modding capabilities.

You must be a troll, have a really crappy machine. All of the PC versions have run very well on my computers. Flawlessly, in fact.

I'm still waiting for the series to return to London.

Better yet, with the sprawling landscape now possible, perhaps a compressed Britain along the lines of San Andreas with London, Cardiff and of course Edinburgh.

2013-07-09 03:50:41 PM
I get the big feeling it's gonna overwelm me map wise. Just Cause 2 was great but damn, that map was huge.

GTAV is pretty shaping up to me San Andreas 2.

I don't believe that that's really a GTA game. Not once did someone call me asking to go bowling.

/Hey cousin!
