Menthol cigarettes as cash. Would that be like 10 of those for a normal cigarette?

I wish I did that when I heard they were getting rid of OK soda.

I should have done that when they were getting rid of Snapple elements drinks. Man I miss the Rain and Fire flavours.

Oh yeah, I remember those.  Clearly Canadian and NY Seltzer is also missed.

I thought cigarettes CAUSE cancer?  How come this guy didn't die already of cancer?
Huh? Huh??

Just like my grandfather who smoked until he was 70, and quit when he said "I'm not
paying no g** d*** 75 cents a pack for cigarettes!  He lived to be 99 years old without
any cancer.
Unless you are genetically predisposed for cancer, cigarettes DO NOT cause cancer!

Classic addict behavior X 10 million.

Every smoker has a couple of emergency heaters stuck in a drawer in his house and office 'just in case'.

Including me.

When I moved into my new building, I found about 50 cans of fava beans in my storage unit.

I hear they go well with liver and chianti.

I quit cigarettes a year and half ago with ecig, quit those in December.  I've been running since, up to 7-8 miles three times a week and started HIIT sessions, too.  If you start pushing yourself, you'll be surprised how quick you can reverse endurance issues.

Me too as of recently.  They went over $7 a pack and that's my limit.  I'm down to 1/2 a pack from a pack a day.  I just need the real thing in the morning with my coffee, and at night with a cocktail.  I'll get there though.

Maybe switch to little cigars.  The idea being to move the addiction onto something else.

I do like a half-pack of cool, delicious menthol cigarettes over the weekend while I'm out at the bar.

Pro-tip:  If you're at a strip club, leave a pack of Newports out on the table.  Strippers will flock to you to bum a smoke.

wildcardjack: uber humper: show me: Those things go stale after a while.

If he keeps them in a humidor they would probably be alright.

I was thinking more like a walk in fridge.

Used to work for a tobacco company.  Menthol cigarettes would go stale quicker than non-menthol.  They would refrigerate the menthol cigarettes to get more shelf life out of them. All of his smokes will be garbage in less than a year.

I'm also quitting with an ecig. It's been 3 weeks since I've smoked a real cigarette (the day my son was born). I'm almost finished with the ecig. If I could just drop it all together without losing my job for telling the boss she's a coont while niccing...

I didn't have running endurance even when I was a kid so I doubt I'll build any up now. (farking scotch/irish hobbit genes)

I didn't either (mid 30s now). I've really surprised myself. Start by walking. Some say walking is better than running anyways. Then start working up.  Walk five mins then jog 1 min.  Couch to 5K is the program.

Even better is HIIT.  http://www.askmen.com/sports/bodybuilding_100/135_fitness_tip.html   Anyone can do this, from 10 y/o to 80 y/o bypass patient.  Start slow.

You'll be surprised how quick you'll improve.  Nic gum works, too. Walmart is the cheapest place to get it.

I do agree coffee and booze is the biggest hurdle.

The ship I was on in the navy banned chewing tobacco in the ships store so I kept sleeves of skoal and would get $10 bucks a tin after about a month out. This was the early 90's so that was about the cost of a sleeve.

I know of a few people who did this when they discontinued Lucky filters.  Not to this scale, obviously.  I just switched to Mild Sevens because I lived in San Francisco and that shiat was expensive no matter what you bought.

Meh, just quit, use some gum or patches to wean off if you have to, but tobacco, be it cigarettes, chew or snus have cancer risks.

I think "predisposed" is the wrong word...  susceptible?  Predisposed assumes that you will get cancer anyway, cigarettes increase the odds.  Specifically in lung, throat and oral cancers.

Even moreso in East Germany under Soviet control. You could fill up a gas tank for a couple packs of menthols...

Same reason people who lived through the Great Depression are still very tight with their money and will go to length to save a couple dollars

Harry Freakstorm: The European commission is hoping to ban menthol cigarettes. The proposed ban on menthol cigarettes is only the latest example of the nannying instinct exhibited by many legislators in the European Union, which has already proposed or implemented bans on unsupervised children blowing up balloons, refillable olive oil jugs, and pictures of babies on baby formula.

I know that as a waif, seeing another baby on the baby formula package caused me to consume more baby formula. I just wanted to be like that happy little crotchfruit with the rosy cheeks and bright eyes. Funny now in retrospect, that a chain smoking, alcoholic baby with extremely very early male pattern baldness like me could ever hope to be a happy and healthy child.

Urban legend has it that packets of baby formula with pictures of smiling babies caused problems when sold in the third world. Low literacy rates, you see. People shop by looking at the picture on the tin that shows what's inside.
