The deputy wasn't buying her excuse after finding the cocktail glass and charged her with Throwing a Deadly Missile before parking her butt in the pokey.

Homosexual-only parking or not, this kind of behavior should be discouraged. There are proper venues to take your complaint if you feel discriminated against. Don't take the law into your own hands. Take them to court.

See!?  They were right.  Special privileges for gay people.

Well...scary, crazy gay people.  But still!

Alright, Florida, you've already hit your Fark quota until at least noon.

You can tell that they're lesbians by the fact that they can park a car.

OK, first and most important question that should be asked: Are these movie/porno lesbians or real-life lesbians. I'm trying not to judge the entire parking lot on the one crazy arrestee pictured in the article.

Look, I'm not going to defend this nut and her behavior.  But you might think a little differently if you were taunted your whole life, had to conceal your personal life, or been beaten for just being yourself.

I've had it pretty good for the most part.  But getting severely beaten by two guys downtown and having the police laugh it off was HUGE eye-opener for me.

Nirvana's In Bloom video.  You know who that is?  Doug Llewellyn.  How cool is that?  They tried to get the Encyclopedia Britannica kid (falsetto "Remember me?"), but he was sick.

Where the hell do you live, dude? I'm in TN and have never even heard (locally, of course) of someone gay being beaten just for being gay.

There is violence all over.  I have directly known victims in Tampa, Cincinnati, and Columbus, OH.  A lot of times, it has never made news.

I certainly don't live somewhere that random anti-gay beatings occur. But hey, don't let that stop you from being all judgmental.

Well, Florida deserves its own tag, obviously....but still, two things stand out:

1. LGBT people still get attacked with alarming regularity, as do straight people whom idiots mistake for being "queer".  Even in otherwise gay-friendly places.

2. Being a lesbian doesn't mean you aren't also an unpleasant  biatch, which appears to have been the main factor here.

Possibly.  Not all the facts are in, and this sounds more like a crazy woman trying to keep a parking space for herself. Also, did someone say that it wouldn't be charged as a hate crime?  Does Florida even have hate crime laws?

2013-07-09 01:23:49 PM
I don't know what is in a  Deadly Missile, but I'll have my bartender fix one.

FuzedBox: So is this a hate crime, or does the law not work that way?

Hate crime laws are generally predicated on the idea that the act or is intended to do more than just hurt the individual(s) who are directly affected by the specific act.  The act also creates a fear or terror among others in the group to which the victim(s) belong, thus extending the effect throughout a community of people.

I have mixed opinions about hate crime laws.  But that's the general theory behind them.

So while you may argue that this act was intended to send a chilling message to straight people, I think you'd have a hard time establishing that under current hate crime laws.

Eh. It always struck me more at people laughing at an over-excited LARPer. Amusing at first, but it wears off.

The Gamers, on the other hand, is glorious, and great for repeated viewing, though admittedly only people who play D&D(or maybe RPGs in general) will get most of the humor.

Get off your high horse, this happened to me as well. Nothing to do with sexual orientation just that cops are frat brothers with the criminals.

By "TN", I assume you don't mean Tennessee, then? Or, are you from the mirror universe? Because, here in this universe, a simple Google for "tennessee gay attack" finds a whole shiatload of stories of such occurring:

A gay Tennessee couple was reportedly attacked - physically and verbally assaulted - by a Christian Pastor and his deacons to prevent the same-sex couple from entering the Pastor's church.

Shawn Farris, Tennessee Man, Allegedly Attacked At High School Reunion For Being Gay

Anti-Gay Attacks on Rural Tennessee Man Continue

Tenn. church shooter hoped anti-gay attack would spur more

The videotaped beating of a transgender woman in police custody in Memphis last February led to charges against two officers and national condemnation from gay rights groups. ... But a week ago, the woman, Duanna Johnson, 43, was found fatally shot near downtown.

Nope, this "TN" place of yours sure sounds like a gay-friendly utopia!
