Alcohol was definitely a factor.

Viral cardiomyopathy? That will take a flash mob of doctors.

Well, time does take a toll on the body...

kind of surprised to read he's only 54.  Would have guessed at least 70 from me being old and not remembering.a time he wasn't famous.

2013-07-08 09:43:13 PM
Hopefully he'll be up and around, drunk, naked and threatening police officers in no time.

'Cardiomyopathy' is one of my favorite medical terms. It basically means 'injury or disease of the muscles of the heart'. Since the heart is 100% muscle, every single thing that ever negatively affects it is a 'cardiomyopathy', throwing 'viral' just makes it funnier because 'viral' looks like anything and can't really be disproven (a naked piece of DNA with a loose cell wall affecting soft tissue in a way we've never seen, prove me wrong). It works almost as well as telling a whiney fat chick she has fibromyalgia in getting dumb people out of your office.

Meh, alcohol sure didn't help.

This news will be surprising to those who thought that he walked on water.

Booze or not, I like Randy Travis for some reason. Hope he'll be alright. Hell, George Jones and Larry Hagman made it way past 54. And of course Keith Richards is still alive and performing.

Actually, it usually refers to an enlargement or thickening of the muscle, sometimes becoming rigid and can cause scar tissue.  It causes weakness, pumping inefficiency and arrhythmia, and failure.

NewportBarGuy: Alcohol was definitely a factor.

Yup.  Long-term, heavy alcohol use is listed as a risk factor for cardiomyopathy.

VIRAL cardiomyopathy, folks. This is the sort of thing that takes down coaches who have been active and healthy their entire life.

When he goes, there will always be the little blurb about that time he was arrested while drunk, and naked, and hanging around a 15 yr old whore. RIP Travis Bickle

I've been saying that about Fibromyalgia for years now and am very glad to know that I'm not alone in my rants... How is it that every single case is always a fat middle aged white woman?

Ah, Chagas disease. Charles Darwin picked up that bug while on the Beagle. Didn't significantly shorten his life, but gave him problems.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but my best buddy Mike has fibro. It's no laughing matter.

Back in the '90s, he was on his way home from a business trip overseas and picked up (on the plane back, we think) a virus that damn near killed him.

Mil-grade antivirals saved him, but he developed some weird problems soon after. Like fibro, and a strange 'diabetes'. He still makes insulin, but his cell walls don't want to pass it.

I sorta liked his music fifteen years ago, but he was ruined for me forever when my mother commented that it looks and sounds like he's always constipated and... well... straining.

//no amount of scrubbing ever erased that errant thought
/assuming the worst, who had him on their death pool? probably not many

I'll do you one better:  Brie cheese smells exactly like semen.

Try eating it again.  Smell it first.

I'm watching "ER" and I keep hearing a diagnosis that, when the characters say it, sounds like LOL or "el oh el".  Can someone tell me what this is?
