Good headline for bashing Monsanto. You are gonna get a lot of bites considering the truth v your headline.

What is happening with the Bees is not man made. It is happening because the Bee has yet to evolve a defense against their predators.

If the bees cannot keep up with their predators then they will become extinct.

Then how are they still here?

Thank you, Mr. Monsanto.

I didn't know they were responsible for that.  I mean, I know they're responsible for about a billion other things, but didn't know about that.

Monsanto hopes to make money off of people worried about a problem Monsanto may have helped cause, preferably with a chemical beekeepers will need to purchase in perpetuity, or at least until the patent expires.

I have little doubt that their actions may contribute to CCD (specifically with regard to pesticides and crop diversity).  But you ain't finding any evidence of that in that article, Subby.

"The causes of the bee health decline are complex and include varroa mites, the viruses they transmit, poor nutrition, pesticides, declining habitat and less forage."

Just the mites, eh?

Now that cross pollination is such a sweet lawsuit bonanza the bees work for Monsanto.

It sounds a lot more like they're willing to finance a brand new problem.

Which is weird, because in all of the stuff I've read about this, there seems to be little consensus as to what the primary cause is.  Perhaps you've missed your calling and will end up being written in the annals of history as the Farker that saved beekind.

DRTFA, but I'm guessing that Monsanto is now trying to make their own brand of bee, so they can sue the owners of wherever the bees land for non-payment?

Step 1: Contribute to sudden bee decline.
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Develop "cure" which you will gladly sell to the affected beekeepers.
Step 4: Profit!

jesuschrist, i'm pro-Monsanto and even i know this is horseshiat. neo-nicotinoids and monoculture ag. have LET the bees succumb to mites, mold, fungus, etc.

Clearly, space is the answer. Orbital beehives with private shuttles to go get the honey once a day.

From what I've read, the pesticides believed to be contributing to Colony Collapse Syndrome are coming out of Bayer, not Monsanto.  Or are they conglomerated and I just haven't seen the business link yet?

Solution: DIVERSIFY YOUR CROPS. Monoculture is bad. Nature is not a factory. It has it's own rules, and one of them is called "natural selection". There are different plant and animal species not because they look nice or are tasty, but because their environment has shaped them - not a lab. Square peg, round hole does not work, even if you genetically shave off the corners.

This is something Monsanto does not want, because then people will use seed that does not belong to them or use different seeds.

or only torch once and let your No Till ag crop come and go, then let in-between season crops feed the bugs during fallow season.

Just wait till the wind blows them to a non Monsanto hive and sue the beekeeper into oblivion for stealing their product.

Monsanto doesn't care if they are at fault.  They can't be sued.  They drafted the law that and lobbied/bribed it through republicrats.

Jesus Christ, subby, did you even read the article?  First thing I thought when I saw headline was, "No way will Monsanto ever admit to anything bad that might have been caused by their poisons.  Never."

Sure enough I was right.  Instead they want to sell "new techonology" that I'm sure is totally safe, and make more billions.

yah, anti-virus transmission bee-sourced RNAi, on the mites... but it's from Israel, so it's BOUND to work?... because, you know, that ONE GENE responsible for virus transmission will get turned off and not mutated around.

"The goal in my mind was pretty simple," said Jerry Hayes, a veteran bee expert who leads Monsanto's bee research efforts. "To connect the beekeeping industry more closely to Monsanto, and to connect Monsanto more closely to the beekeeping industry.

We are SO Farked.
