"Let us wave our Saltires."

Wait. Is that some sort of euphemism?

No, it's just the national flag of Scotland. A Flag being proudly held up by a Scot Politician at Wimbledon when the first Scot since 1896 actually won the bloody thing?

Well, Carry on then.

Supporters of the Union have accused him of "photobombing" Mr Cameron and breaking All England Club rules - which state large banners and flags cannot be used around the courts.

I agree, but it's a tiny bit more complicated than that.  The SNP is the Scottish Nationalist Party and it's main platform is Scottish independence from the UK, which would more or less require dissolving the Treaty of Union.  So, there's a bit of a political statement there as well, perhaps.

Perhaps but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Andy Murray's Wimbledon win was a BFD over there.

Hell, I know some folks of Scots descent hereabout who are still celebrating.

/Admittedly hard to tell with them if they're still celebrating or if it's just a day ending in Y but pretty sure it's them still celebrating.

Cameron is milking the hell out of a Briton* winning at Wimbledon, in a desperate attempt to get some of the good vibes to rub off on his deeply unpopular leadership of an only marginally more popular coalition government. Salmond is the First Minister of the Scottish Government. I'd be surprised if he didn't have a saltire somewhere.

*A universal rule is that if something goes well for a Scottish sportsman/woman/team, they're British. When it goes badly, they're Scottish

I'm sure Andy's fine with being Scottish. I am. But Salmond attempting to co opt Andy's achievement and make it some in-yer-face from Scotland to England really ticked me off. It was boorish.

Because they have not been playing up the fact that a Brit* won the men's singles at Wimbledon at all in England. {eye roll}

Shatner's Bassoon: Salmond and Cameron playing politics with Murray's win? No way!

Salmond does this, Cameron invites Murray over for tea at his house with the Deputy PM (Lib Dem) and the opposition leader. So really the 3 main parties of the UK. How are they at all the same? If anything Cameron was forced to be there by politics. If he wasn't there it would be a PR disaster, that's not his fault, that's just the nature of our stupid society that thinks shiat like this is important.

As much as I'm a supporter of Independence, I'm embarrassed by Alex Salmond. Mainly because of the panicky look on his face as he tried to get the flag into place.

Today, Andy Murray is 100% British.
