They don't have to spend a dime.
The delays until after mid-term elections speak for themselves.
Also how can it be good when our own politicians on both sides are exempting them selves?

Well, here's the reality I see. Full time employees get benefits, so no one is hiring full time.

I predict that unless something changes, we'll have a lot more people in this country working two jobs and not having any health and insurance.

I work in an area heavily affected by the financial reforms created under Dodd-Frank and have had a front row seat as the CFPB have tried to implement them, and I could have predicted that the IRS wouldn;t be ready with a rulemaking this complex this quickly.  Dodd_frank passed in 2009  and even the Simple CFPB rules defining qualfied Mortgages, Required mortgage disclosures and who can compensate loan originators, have taken until this year to write and won;t be fully effective until next.   Passing laws are easy, the law just lays out the broad outlines, but writing implementing regulations?  Now THAT's hard...

Good argument for removing the responsibility of healthcare from employers and implementing single-payer.

Why does my employer have such sway over my healthcare anyway?

Well, from what I have heard, based on the most popular Facebook posts, is that Obama care will...

- Cause *everyone's* property taxes to go up
- Bankrupt America by merely existing
- Allow the government to make all health decisions for you.
- Make people not want to become doctors.
- Increase the newborn mortality rate.
- Close hospitals across the country
- Increase health insurance for educators by 25%.
- Cost large companies hundreds of millions dollars in fines leading them to totally drop employer provided insurance.
- Lead to problems with routine insurance claims.
- Cause nurses to be snooty with you.

One of the drawbacks of the First Amendment is that there's nothing to stop Fox News from straight-up lying to you.

Other networks have this thing called "journalistic integrity." I'm not saying that Fox has never heard of this, but if they have, they clearly want nothing to do with it.

...will begin running television commercials this week asserting that the law will limit Americans' health care choices.

Is there any dispute over this fact? The only difference is whether you consider it a bug or a feature.

And, I would add, it restricts choice only marginally more than a bunch of horrible laws already did, aside from those who previously chose to forego insurance.

Saborlas: I'm not saying that Fox has never heard of this, but if they have, they clearly want nothing to do with it.

They're helping to kill it. They popularized the "talking head pundit network that does no investigative work" model. After all, paying a bunch of "journalists" to go out into the field and find things to report on is really expensive. It's easier to just biatch about whatever people on Twitter are 'reporting'.

You have to admit it's a brilliant bit of strategy

Obama "So you want it implemented now? Well, you must really like it then."
GOP "Hell yes we.....fark...."

How can you argue that politicians are "exempting themselves" from a law that sets up a personal insurance mandate when they, by definition, are already in compliance with the law by having employer-provided healthcare?  (That congressional healthcare plan that conservatives keep describing as "Cadillac Care", btw, is socialized and government provided.)

This claim of yours is patently false, and is rooted in the confusion over what Obamacare is and isn't:  it is not a healthcare plan, or a massive new healthcare bureaucracy.  It's merely a set of insurance reforms.

Did you know Obamacare is going to put saltpeter in waters where lots of Christians live? It's true! With the saltpeter, Obamacare will prevent Christian men from getting hard ons, and they won't be able to impregnate their Christian wives and produce healthy, Christian babies! Look it up! Once that's over, then FEMA will coordinate with INS to move in large swaths of illegals to take over!

Copy and paste this into your status and let TRUE Americans know what's real about Obamacare!

Free speech appears to be pretty well protected in these PAC funded campaigns but it would be cool to see the govt layer on a requirement that they disclose the nature of the business(es) funding the information to help the viewer understand where a conflict of interest may exist.

2013-07-08 01:46:03 PM
Ironically Obamacare will work because there is so much responsibility in the hands of the states.  The Koch Brothers and similar thinking folk may be able to submarine the law in red states, and even for the federal exchange if they do "well" in their farked up efforts, but in the end these people have little sway in states like California, New York, Oregon, Washington, etc where the states have already shown signs up bringing costs down with a well-built health care exchange.  And if California can make it work, then it surely will spread as every other law that does well in California does.

I moved to the N.W. in 2002, and I saw something odd, people would discuss their various odd jobs. I noticed it was pretty common for people to have more than two. None of them had benefits then. I would find out temp services were in full use.

Not many jobs have been hiring full-time in a long time. The ones with benefits have shrunk greatly, as have the idea of what are benefits. Obamacare didn't exist in 2002.
