Hideo Kojima like it.

"I have never imagined that I would be fortunate enough to see a film like this in my life."

This... it could be sitting at 0% on Rottentomatoes and I would still be on line for it.

$20 "supertickets" or piracy.  Who will win?

Really?  It's about the only thing lower on my want-to-see list than Lone Ranger.
I hope I'm wrong, I would rather hear you enjoyed the flick

Looks big, loud, and stupid.

It'll be a smash

The trailers for this movie touch some long lost part of my childhood. Like nothing else matters to me but seeing giant robots fighting giant aliens.

Because The Lone Ranger was such a hit, I presume?

It's different from normal movie fare.  Other than Transformers, which had a different reason for it's popularity, Hollywood never took the giant manned robot crowd seriously.

How much did that cost Warner Brothers?

Damn it!

Celebrities who saw advanced screenings are tweeting compliments, including Kanye West saying "it's easily one of my favorite movies of all time." (Yo, I'm real happy for you.)

"The superticket includes a theater ticket and a pre-order of a digital copy which releases early and includes exclusive content."

"Exclusive content" - meaning Cantonese subtitles on a R6 download? Um - not that I know what that -er- means.

This movie looks absolutely stupid.

But I want to see it SOOOO BAD!!!!

I got my tickets a week ago.  Nothing will stop me.  If there is a giant robot punching a giant monster in the face, I will be happy no matter what.

Canadians have a lot of interest in the "Giant Sea Monster Attack" scenario, we have a farkload of coastline.

Yup. Looks like a great movie for a packed IMAX midnight screening too.

And what's the average price for a movie in Canada? Here it's around $9. $11 extra for a home copy doesn't seem too bad.

But I would rather have that option after I watched it.

$13 for a regular ticket. $16 for a 3D ticket.

I've seen the trailer for that film twice now, and I still have no clue what the hell is happening in the movie or what it is about.  Is it a bunch of giant robots or just one?  Did I see Godzilla in there?

2013-07-08 01:42:28 PM
I'd expect a Pacific Rim Job for that.

ColSanders: I've seen the trailer for that film twice now, and I still have no clue what the hell is happening in the movie or what it is about.  Is it a bunch of giant robots or just one?  Did I see Godzilla in there?

Giant monsters (Kaijus) come out of an interdimensional portal located at the bottom of the Pacific (thus Pacific Rim) and start tearing shiat up. Humanity's only hope is to construct giant mechs to battle them. Each country has their own mech with a unique personality and it takes two pilots to operate it (neural linking where each pilot controls one hemisphere of the mech's "brain"). Mechs are doing pretty well until the Kaiju start to evolve and then they get their asses kicked.

So basically it's giant robots beating the shiat out of giant monsters and vice-versa.

Multiple Robots...Multiple Monsters...and yeah, you more or less saw Godzilla in there.

Hopefully this brings back bad monster movies saturday mornings. War of the Gargantuas any one?

I've seen that. The dialogue was in Japanese, however, so I couldn't follow the plot.

Well why didn't they just say so?  That sounds cool.  It's like the battles my friend and I used to have with his giant Shogun Warrior and Godzilla figures.

I'd gladly pay 20 bucks if I could legally taser people who were talking during the movie.

Heh, I'm glad they have the SoA boys in there. It's one of my girlfriend's favorite shows (mainly for shots of a shirtless/pantless Charlie Hunan) and the second I said the movie had Jax and Clay she was in.

Now that she's started playing Portal (well Portal 2), she loves that GlaDOS was in the trailer, even though she won't be in the main movie.

OK, so Robot Jox wasn't great, but it did set the stage for the awe-inspiring spectacle that was Crash and Burn a year later.

I KNEW someone else other than me liked that game!  I still can't tell if the horrifying voice acting in the game was a budget thing, or a legitimate homage to bad Kaiju movie dubs.  The only problem with this game was it penalized you for collateral damage... which made no sense when your best moves obliterated everything in front of you, including buildings.

Still have a copy of it, BTW... was really lucky to find it cheap a handful of years ago.

OT: Add me to the list of people that don't care what the reviews say... I'm seeing it, and it'd be one of the few movies I'd pay to watch in 3D if it was available.

Monster battles and Charlie Day and they finally got me to want to see some sort of pre-planned to be a "blockbuster" movie.

It's like Evangelion but without the whiny, self-absorbed teenage angst and Japanese existentialism. Also, the weird judeo-christian symbolism.

/still want an Eva movie
//will settle for this
