Good, let him take all the time he needs in Tampa.  Hopefully he needs another 5 years.

/seeing Jeter in Scranton tonight!

Continuing from a previous thread: The Yankees are 8 games over .500 after using this lineup for both games this weekend:

Gardner - CF
Ichiro - RF
Cano - 2B
Hafner - DH
Almonte - LF
Overbay - 1B
Cruz - 3B
Nunez - SS
Stewart - C

The only possible explanation is that Grant Brisbee is psychic.  Heck, if you know the first names of all of those players, you watch a lot of baseball.

In related news, Zoilo Almonte now has a big-league HR.  Anyone catch what his retarded home run call on YES was?  The Fark prediction was 'That pitcher is saying "Curses!  Zoiled Again!"', and I can't decide if the real one will be just as bad or even worse.

You're thinking of WCBS not YES. Michael Kay is awful, but he's no John Sterling.

You are correct, sir.  I have confused the two best announcers that the Yankees could find with an annual revenue of only $471M.  Apparently, announcers who are willing to work in the Bronx and do not have crippling head injuries cost $472M.

I don't know if Fark predicted that or not, but I think that's more or less exactly what he said.

Never mind.  I checked the date on that thread (6/26), and it was after Almonte's first HR (6/21).  It was just someone reporting that horrible, horrible not-news, not a prediction.

What's sad is that at the time i assumed the Farker was just making things up that could be horrible enough to be said.  I didn't realize it was an actual call.

Hmmm, reminds me of an article in the NY Daily News about A-Rod coming back, giving it a go, then claiming "I can't do it", retire and get his money before MLB drops the hammer on him for the Florida business.

Wouldn't put it past him to try that crap, soak the Yanks, and at the same time flip the bird to MLB.

Those are brutally bad.

I noticed that the ones  calls a lot (Jeter, etc), have more likes, even though they are just as bad

Sentimentality on those ones i guess

I get the feeling that over half of those guys are thinking, "I'm in the starting lineup for the Yankees? How the hell did this happen?"

How the shiat does he get paid if he retires?

Why is this a thing?
