gwowen: SockMonkeyHolocaust: Apparently this generation has repackaged the Americana subgenres of folk and bluegrass as "old timey music"

Condolences to anyone who thought that there couldn't be a stupider way to describe music than "grunge".

Old Time Music as a term and a genre predates Bluegrass. It's the term Bill Monroe would've used to describe the music he heard growing up.

I only listen to gregorian chants. Everything past that is a fake inauthentic fad.

I can't wait to hear about all of the cool bands that Subby listens to. I'm sure I won't though, just saying their name makes them too corporate and total sell-outs.

Killer Cars: I still can't figure out how M & S can incite such a strong reaction. To me, they play basic pop/rock fare with a banjo. I'm not saying that's "bad", but just not worthy of much introspection either way.

I like to put them on an overcast Sunday Morning.  I fix myself a bowl of unsalted, unbuttered oatmeal.   Fill me up a big glass of  room temperture tapwater to wash it down with.  I then sit down and ready my home insurance documentation.  It's the perfect mood music.

Mumford & Sons:  For those times when Dave Matthews Band is simply too ethnic.

DamnYankees: I love their music. Not sure if that makes me uncool or not.

It was cool to like them when they were quirky and fresh but now that they've sold out there boring and trying too hard. Despite not really changing anything except winning a grammy award.
