It's almost as if subby quoted directly from this Simpsons episode.

xanadian: Awesome headline, submitter.

Thanks, but... Simpsons did it!

No, you're thinking of that WWII fighter pilot, what's his name, Pappy Bongington.

Yes, subby was directly referencing the Simpson with the quote "That a REALLY useful invention."

It says it is able to identify sentiment with up to an 80% accuracy rate.

Woah. That's good but still a long way from the average Farker's accuracy.

/no, it is really much better than the Fark average
//you didn't notice it was sarcasm, see?

Except Comic Book Guy (aka Jeff Albertson) called it a "REAL useful invention", not a "REALLY useful invention".

SNPP.com backs me up on this:

CBG: A sarcasm detector, that's a real useful invention.

Nope.

Don't even need to RTFA.  It's a language problem, and even humans aren't that great at it.  Machines have no shot at all, I don't care what method they're using.  Their error rates must be enormous.

I think sarcasm would be easier to detect than verbal irony.
