Froome retains the yellow jersey with 27 drug tests and no performance enhancers found, Valverde close behind with 27 drug tests and only one labeled "questionable" and retained for further testing. Bauke Mollema en Laurens ten Dam lead the rest of the peloton with 25 clean drug tests apiece.

I have all the stages from last Thursday to catch up with on the DVR when I get home tonight, but I'll probably just watch the 9th stage then todays. What the heck happened to Porte?

That was a great finish yesterday.

Either that or Porte has an amazingly bad doping program and had nothing left in the tank.

The first week has not been without drama.  I wanted to jump through my TV and throttle that dog's owner during stage 2.  And I was really rooting for Quintana to hold on in the second climb and get the stage win the other day.

Cynically, I watched Porte hit the wall and thought that was staged to show everyone that they aren't doping.  For some reason I can't get behind Team Sky.  I really enjoyed the Cannondale domination of Stage 7.  SAGAN!  I also enjoyed Orica Greenedge performances starting with the bus slamming into the overhead sign and the defending of the yellow jersey.

Those Colombians sure can climb those mountains!  That was exciting.  Hopefully he can hold on to the White Jersey eventhough I was hoping TJ would claim it again.

I watch it. I think it's dumb we get a thread on a rest day.

From the epic butthurt  have seen in the Lance Armstrong threads, it would seem there are more cycling fans on Fark then there are hockey fans.

I've been out of town and busy so haven't seen near as much of the Tour as usual.  The stuck bus at Stage 1 was facepalm stupid.  Beating the peloton by 1 second in Stage 2 was nailbiting entertaining but that's all I've seen.

Does it sound odd to say that's is surprising that Cavendish has 'only' won one stage so far.

Kind of surprised to see Andy Schleck sitting 4:00 minutes back but after reading that Radio Shack canned Frank it makes sense.  Would have really liked to see the TTT stage, oh well, looking forward to watching the last 2 weeks.

I missed those.  But I do see a lot of hate for cyclists in any bicycle related thread.  Makes me nervous to go out on the road after reading all of those posts.

bicycling.com has a daily blog from Jens Voight. Dude is hilarious, and it's interesting to get his perspective on things you can't really notice on TV.

This Wednesday is the evening ride at Laguna Seca, I think they're doing a Tour party in the paddock. Should be a blast.

When do they get back into the mountains?

Why can't we have TdF threads when there is actually a race going on, rather than on a rest day?

It's an interesting Tour so far, and it is obvious the riders are mostly clean now. It's the first time in years that young talents can really compete with the older guys, since there aren't expensive doping programs for the top contenders any more. You can also see some people mysteriously being not as good anymore as they used to be in previous years, and people who I've known to be clean like the two Dutch guys Mollema and Ten Dam are now in the top 5 compared to place 20-30 where they were in previous years.

The two mountain stage were awesome.

The time trial on wednesday should be interesting. Contador will be able to win some time back on Froome, but the stage is probably to short for him to be able to get the yellow jersey.

I think I'm the odd ball the two sports I like to watch are hockey and bike racing.

Dead for Tax Reasons: surprise, something to talk about today and no place to talk about it...

Dude you've been here since 2006 so you have to know that unless something REALLY unusual happens we're lucky to get 2~3 TdF greenlights as it is.  Why don't you discuss whatever the fark you think is good/bad/has happened/will happen instead of just whining about getting a green on a rest day.  Maybe if there was some chatter showing interest in the sport admins would be more likely to greenlight cycling threads.  If I was an admin I wouldn't greenlight any TdF submissions after reading all the whining/lack of actual discussion in this thread.

Just curious, how many TdF threads have you submitted?

i don't want to discuss what happened 4 days ago, so this thread didn't interest me yesterday other than to suggest(whine) that a green would be better used on a actual race day

i submitted 1 this year
