But secretly moving the records allowed the Pentagon to tell The Associated Press that it couldn't find any documents inside the Defense Department that AP had requested more than two years ago

Couldn't find them? I wonder if they also tried "The dog ate them"?

Because letting the operational details of how we're able to slip into and out of a country undetected would be a good thing to have leak, right?

Well, since Bushie II stated he didn't care where Osama Bin Laden was, I'm surprised they had more than a hotel cocktail napkin--with a hooker's phone number scribbled on it--left.

I'm not a conspiracy nut, but having the audio go out during the actual raid and the quick burial at sea thing are pretty damn suspicious.  When you add that they're working to hide the files from potential whistleblowers, it gets even harder for the official story to pass the smell test.

I have no idea what they might be hiding.  It could just be that they employed tech in the entry of the building that isn't known to the public, and the burial at sea was for the actual reason stated, not creating a holy site for potential terrorists.  Also, there's no way bin Laden is still out there.  He would have made a tape by now to prove that the US lied about capturing him.  At worst, they may have captured him alive and told everyone he was dead.

Are you serious? We already know that Pakistan cooperated with us so long as they have plausible denialbility. It would piss off their intelligence department and some of the more extremist elements so they wanted to keep the whole affair hush hush. This is hardly a secret at this point.

Why is it that the "big secrets" that we try to cover up happen to be things we already know?

The records transfer was part of an effort by McRaven to protect the names of the personnel involved in the raid, according to the inspector general's draft report.

Pretty much what I expected.  I'm trying very hard to imagine a secret reason for this move that I would be outraged at, but I just don't see it.  I like sunlight as much as the next guy, but some things (like the names of the people who are involved) just don't seem to be relevant.

LOL... This is funny as hell, if you have done nothing wrong then you have nothing to hide, right. I guess that only applies to people and not governments. You can not really believe that Bin Laden is dead, if you do I have a bridge to sell to you. That most wanted man in the world was shot and dumped at sea, LOL!

Maybe OBL was captured alive, tortured to death then dumped at sea.  CIA might not want that news to get out to keep the uppity Muslims from getting more uppity.

Maybe OBL was captured alive and is held in a prison somewhere so the dumping him in the ocean is a lie.

Maybe Pakistan allowed the US in and provided the intelligence to get OBL and the CIA wants to keep it a secret for diplomatic reasons.

Maybe OBL was captured alive and Obama set him free in the US and the two are going to work together to implement shira law and turn the US into a Muslim nation.

Maybe in 30 years Oliver Stone, Jr. (or his non-union equivalent) will do a movie about it someday ...

More likely, some survivor will come across the documents in the burned out hulk of what was once an anonymous US government office. He will discard them without a thought in favor of the half bag of mouldering stale cheez-its strewn nearby.

There's nothing suspicious about that at all.  Get rid of the body quickly in a secret location to deny a Mecca, if you will, for sympathizers to rally around.

Know who else had their corpse secretly disposed of?

So we can keep lying about it?

So that when there is genuine uncertainty the same wall of "no comment" keeps the deniability plausible?

Yes, once those empires fell the people were left in chaos forever. That's why Rome is a barren waste of ruins, populated by feral men. That's why the whole of human civilization stopped on a dime at each instance.

And, more to the point, the US is just like Rome, Egypt, or Babylon, and that's not at all a stupid and wildly inaccurate comparison.

So you're suggesting that current events, which mirror previous events in American HIstory, will destroy America and turn it into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.   Which, logically, means that America has already fallen, several times, every time things like this happened in our nation's past.

The reason I used the term "fantasize" is because people like you have this strong tendency to not just expect, but strongly DESIRE The Fall™ so that you can loudly shout, (presumably to corpses since we're all supposed to die from it) "I TOLD YOU SO!!! STUPID (usually "libtards" but it varies)!!!!"

It's a rather sad little desire.
