Maybe they can stop showing endless reruns of Flashpoint.

I must be getting old, I am not sure what these networks are referred to in the article. USA is a Network? I thought it was a anarcho capitalist amalgamate of corporations. Ion? TNT? When did all this happen?

Yay!

Ion is Digital OTA here and pretty decent, IMO

/Cable Free for almost 4 years now
//Why do people pay extra for longer commercial breaks and pseudo 'reality' shows anyway?

I love all the OTA options now. Cable free for a few years now myself. MeTV rocks and I'm glad to see ION getting some decent shows now.

The $8 for Netflix isn't a bad investment for me, either.

Long live Svengoolie!

Really, going from USA to ION is the norm.

The wife and me have been watching all of White Collar on Netflix.

Pretty nice series, to be honest.

Mozzie steals the show though, every single time he shows up.

Criminal Minds, House, Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Fixed that for you.

Leverage

It's funny, some nights I'll see two of my local stations both airing Leverage at the same time. Often it's even the same episode.

It does get grating, and I love the show.  Best voiceover was the triumphant return of the Charger, though.

A friend of a friend of mine sort of knew that hot chick Burton that plays the insurance babe on White Collar, during high school. I'm still annoyed I never got to meet her back then, but she's only gotten hotter over time.

Before I killed my Dish subscription I hooked up an OTA antenna, and MeTV is great.  I also get something called AntennaTV that's affiliated with my local fox channel, and then there's another one that runs a bunch  of Star Trek TOS and NG. Other USA shows are on ION too, so I'm not surprised those got picked up.  Burn Notice is on it's last season tho.

Syndication means re-runs.

The press release makes it sound like both shows are past-tense though. Have they been cancelled?

Burn Notice had a huge finale where everything got resolved. Westen disappeared back into some anonymous spy agency, but now he's the boss, and he said goodbye to the gang one last time before disappearing by himself. The only way to bring him back is a movie where he gets burned all kover again.

Damnit, haven't been able to watch since I moved to the UK, guess I need to catch up!

Then again, I keep saying that about Game of Thrones too.

Burn Notice is currently in its last season. No finale yet.

Like everything about Burn, it used to be funny/entertaining.  BN ran outa steam around year three and it got blatantly obvious when the only thing the writers could think to do was to burn Michael again.  about a third of the way through it's last year now, and I really hope they find a way to bring Lauren Stamile back for an ep tor two at the end, which hopefully will be AN END.

It should have ended 2-3 seasons ago.  They have found a Genesis of new bad material.  Keep it going like lost did.  Nextr episode, I think they are at war with Cuba...Michael Sam and Jesse appear to be at war with Cuba

Yeah, the first half of season 4 was when I stopped watching. When the seasons became about "I burnt you, but I was told to do it by X" and then seeing the plot now go to find X just got old.

I haven't watched in years, but I really wanted the person responsible for the original burn to be his mom. Would have made sense.

White Collar is the worst offender of doing this.  Every episode takes a good chunk of time to point out a feature of their car sponsor.  I really haven't noticed Burn Notice doing this in comparison (at least not recently).

I want to see Michael's mother strapped with duct tape to a V2 rocket make from a wooden pole and a propane tank and sent into orbit.

Her character made me stop watching a show I was enjoying.  Nate was bad enough, but if there was one character to adios, the mother is it.

I really don't get product placement for the most part. Maybe it works best with the James Bond series, which is the product placement king. I admit as a kid I bought a cell phone because I saw it in a James Bond movie (and of course that was lame) but I don't see people going out and buying BMWs, Omega watches or Aston Martins because they see them in a movie.

And does anyone need to be reminded that McDonalds and Coke exist?

Preach on. It's like she is devoid of any and all common sense. That's not great character personality- that's horrendous writing.

It's about brand awareness and brand image.  The companies want their watches to be cool, their cars to be associated with people with awesome lives.  No one goes out to buy a car because some dude on a TV show drives it, but when they are car shopping they may have a better impression of that car than they would have previously, or they see a car they like when they are watching the TV show and look at it when they wouldn't have previously.  And while I dislike product placement, I understand why shows agree to it.  With everyone DVRing and skipping commercials, but putting the products in the show, they force people to see the ads.  The only time I want to smack them is when it is so bad that it totally pulls you out of the show, such as replacing googling with bing, or a 2 minute ad for the gps in a car.

2013-07-07 10:15:40 PM
My local MyNetwork affiliate already shows both of these series.  I wonder if it was just my local affiliate that carried the shows or if it was pushed down by the network.  If the latter, then I wonder if both networks will continue to air the series or if ION is grabbing it from MyN.

Oysterman: White Collar is the worst offender of doing this

Agreed.  Now that Fringe is off the air, Ford has decided to inflict their ad budget upon a different series.  IMHO, Fringe was getting really, really bad about it in the seasons before they were all frozen in amber.  When it stopped, it almost made up for the retarded plot line of the last season.

The Mom doesn't bother to much and I think she might be one of the reason my mom (alzheimers) likes the show well her and the explosions.

Nate in limited doses is okay but I really get tired of Jessie, thankfully it appears Fiona ate at least 1 sandwich and isn't whining as much as she did in season 3-4.

USA network reminds me of Tv in the 80's, fun to watch and not taking itself too seriously.

Agreed. White Collar takes you out of the show for a moment to talk about how Ford has added a leafy tree graphic to the dashboard, but it's not unbearable. The wife and I find it funny in small doses.

And I've never really noticed on Burn Notice, except one time when they all needed to steal cars for something and Bruce Campbell pulls up and says, "Mike look, the new Mustang" and Mike replies, "That's great Sam!" Quick, cute, tongue in cheek funny.

Yeah, it's amazing how low the bar has been lowered.  I've seen every Star Trek TOS episode at least a million billion time and yet I still watch them and it's great to rewatch old Barney Miller, All in the Family, WKRP, Jeffersons, Good Times and Sanford and Son too.

What am I missing without having cable anymore?  Not a whole hell of a lot.

I've even discovered a few "new" shows on MeTV - well, new to me anyway.  Honey West is kind of cool.

Seconded. If they were trying to push the car she drove, we'd have some quote worth memorizing about how Hyundai "packs a punch" then explosions.

Instead, I thought to myself, "she drives a hatchback?"
