From all the comments it sounds like I'm missing a great radio show.  Too bad I'm stuck in dialup hell, so streaming anything is right out.

DanTheMan1024: soosh: DanTheMan1024: bionicjoe: DanTheMan1024: Well keep it, remember nothing in moderation is bad for you. Vodka before 4pm is bad and dark liquor before the sun goes down leads to problems.

/tequila before 9pm is bad too, unless its in a Bloody Maria.
//all rules are off if you have already been very physically active for most of the day, ie boxing hiking biking etc

Rules like this are silly. Some nights I didn't start drinking until 1am.
Waking up for work still drunk was my wake-up call (no pun intended).

Does dark liquor take daylight savings time into account?
Can you drink 24 hours a day above the arctic circle in the winter?

Yea dark liquor for sure takes daylight savings time into account. The very northern areas with no sun for months at a time propose extreme problems for me...in contrast though I guess I would be "soberish" during the month or so when there is "no night"

nah, you get all manic when there is no night and do sh*t like go hiking at three in the morning.  you might as well be drunk.

Point taken. I love it you mentioned ORU again soosh. I just left t town area, miss it and....

There are parts of Tulsa that are cool in an architectural way, but overall, I do not miss it.  If I had to move back to that area, I would go for southeast Texas through to Louisiana.

it was strange growing up in the shadows of Oral Roberts University with country-club wannabes who thought wealth was the ultimate goal.  I always felt crazy and disconnected.

Then I met my bio-mom and found out I dodged a bullet of crazy, but it runs in the family.

Same thing here. Bible belt + horse country. Why be so wealthy to be so damn unhappy & boring?
I never left though.

I've found new motivation. The job thing is just a tool to get me where I want to go. I care nothing for careers, job titles, or anything. Just need to pay some bills for about 4-5 more years. I've always known 2 things: I will be wealthy. I will be a late-bloomer in life.

I always do shiat backwards. I left a desk job for a job with a service van and a tool bag. (And that paid off.)

A friend of mine is always sharing posts on FB from this young woman who goes to Liberty University. Undeniably, she's a great kid whose heart is in the right place when it comes to helping others, but there's this undertone that's . . . not exactly crazy, but . . . frenetic might be the right word. I can't imagine what the ORU kids must have been like.

my mom raised me in a southern baptist church but always admired Oral Roberts.  I thought from an early age that TV evangelists were just all kinds of f*cked up, but there is a kind of small town devout fundamentalist who believes that kind of sh*t will make them wealthy and on and on.  Ruined me on religion for forever.

I visited my friend in Norman Wells, NWT during the summer one year. It was weird not having the sun go down. It does make people crazy. They drank like maniacs and stayed up until all hours.

Just beautiful country, although it smelled pervasively of oil. The Mackenzie River was something to behold for a prairie boy like me.

I hear ya. I'm a new Rocky Mountain transplant.

my wife moved to Alaska from Grand Junction.   I love the landscape of the high plateau, but my heart is in the swampy lands of the south.  my grandfather had a farm in southeast Oklahoma where I spent the best summers of my life.

I've bad some good times down that way as well growing up. For a kid growing up hunting shooting and camping is good for the soul. As Long as you educate them
At the great University Of Oklahoma all will be well. ;)

If Norman had been a town in the mountains, I would have never left.   Unfortunately, as soon in life that I learned that ...

what years were you there?  I never did manage to graduate, but was there from 89 to 93.  Went to school for Environmental Science, worked as a bouncer at the Deli, quit school to start a chef's apprenticeship type of thing that served me very well.

Little younger, undergrad at OU from 03-07

FYI the deli is still there. Went last year and brought my gf, we stayed in my old frat house, Beta Theta Pi. Best times of my life

Update: I don't think zongo music is actually a thing. The name of this group is the Zongo All-stars. They apparently play "Cali Cubano" and I was mildly annoyed. Probably because of my own local band who plays a similar type of music but with actual lyrics and is very good - Mento Buru.

Yeah yeah, I know, CSB

such a bad ass.   we need another president like him.

We wouldn't elect someone like that again.
The populace is now too well 'informed' to elect anyone that doesn't fit in their info bubble.
