Is there no end of suffering for the brave souls of our military?

/oh well, we still have our fleets of flying saucers armed with death rays

From everything I've read and heard about these TimHos in Afghanistan the damn things were win/win around the board. A little taste and feel of home to soldiers abroad that made good money and threw a fair bit of that coin towards the families of service members back home. That all noted, I'm not sure whether or not making plans for future long term deployments replete with these mobile outlets is such a good thing. Personally I'm getting a little tired of whole war thing and really hope the troops come home and stay home for a while.

Besides, we can't have any part of the military actually making a profit. It sets an extremely bad example.

Can I really call myself part-Canadian if my ancestors left Canada for the U.S. before Tim Hortons was founded?

But those trailers could have been used at home.  Or at any place where there are Canadian troops.  They would not have to be limited just to war zones.  They could also be sent to other continents on "good will tours."

No, genius would be to "let" the Tim Horton's truck be captured by the enemy.

I swear, the dining room of a Tim Hortons is the greatest and best example of world peace you can see - there are people from all over the world, speaking so many different languages, just hanging out and laughing and smiling.

Can't have that in a war zone, I guess.

On the radio this week, it was reported that the waits at the THs over there were sometimes 45 minutes.  So, let's say 2 coffees per day and walking to/from the line back to their actual jobs. That's 2 hours per day or 25% of their yearly salary getting coffee.  I'm okay with ending this luxury.

First of all, the military work 12-16 hours a day while deployed, not 8. Second, these type of facilities are used mostly when they're off duty or on their meal breaks if they even get one. It's not like they're just abandoning their posts to go get a cup of coffee. In the cases where they are going while on duty they most likely send one person to pick it up for a whole group.

Congratulations!  That was possibly the stupidest comment that I have ever seen.

I seem to recall reading somewhere else that the reason they didn't go ahead with the plan now is that they would be able to contruct them in about 2 months time if the need ever arose.

Hmmm, 2 hours a day, for 365 days amounts to 730 hours.  There are 8,760 hours in a year.  25% of 8,760 is (kindly tap out a drum roll on your computer desk, hold it, hold it, hold it, and stop! Good girl.) 2,190!

I really hope that you are pretty, because you are not going to get by on your brains alone.

Do you thing they are punching a time clock on those Forward Operating Bases? Can't attack us now Taliban, we just clocked out!

Also, what else do you think that they have to do while sitting around a base in the middle of no where? I guess it's people like you we can thank for taking this away from them, so they'll be "more efficient".

You know they're living where they work, right?  If you use this logic, you should really be upset at how much time they're spending sleeping.

In some cases, it's 100% of their yearly salary!
