Meh. Let's get to the important stuff:

whtm.images.worldnow.com

Not bad for a 31 year old hooker, and darn good for a 52 year old one.

Back when I was little, one of the anchors at WTVT in Tampa got arrested in a prostitution sting. His perp walk was the lead story on the noon news that day. They mustn't have been much of a fan of the guy.

Something bad happened involving a higher-up at The Oregonian last year, IIRC, and they were mum about it until literally everyone else in the state covered the story.

No shock.

I prefer the Hunter Thompson quote (from Generation of Swine, page 43 in the copy I have):

"The TV business is uglier than most things. It is normally perceived as some kind of cruel and shallow money trench through the heart of the journalism industry, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs, for no good reason. Which is more or less true. For the most part, they are dirty little animals with huge brains and no pulse."

That was Hugh Smith, was busted twice before he was fired (second time for soliciting a minor).  Good times in Tampa Bay!   He kicked the bucket in 2007.

Actually it isn't a religious issue.  It's a control issue.  The government wants their tax from it.  But they can't agree on a reasonable way to do it.  So the cops give us the scare tactics about how it's a gateway to rapes, drug use, murders, etc.  Never mind that the controlled industry in Nevada is flourishing and the government gets a hefty share.

One of the greatest "fark yous" to a politician ever was up here in Washington about 2 years ago...some idiot wanted to tax the prostitutes and they all said "Fine, tax me now, I don't care how much!"...it took some of his advisors telling him that taxing them legitimized their industry immediately, making it legal; for him to finally take his head out of his ass and back down.

Go Harrisburg, PA

I bet the guy who broke the story (fired reporter that got fired by the whoremonger pictured) is having one hell of a last laugh.

Meh. I'm pretty much a feminist, but I'd be ok with it provided it was HEAVILY regulated. Talking permits, drug testing, STD testing on at least a monthly basis, standard residence/facility requirements. Probably could nuke a big chunk of STD rates that way, for one thing.

I couldn't care less about the infidelity angle; if someone wants to cheat, they're going to find a way, doesn't matter who with at that point.

I don't want prostitution to be more heavily regulated than abortion.
