By the way, stating on July 1st, the scoring on Tapology has changed.  You still get 50 for the winner, plus 25 for a decision win and 50 for a method/round perfect, but now they give 14 points for a "semi perfect" where you get the round right but not the method or the method right but not the round.

thought that was an odd number considering the other scoring.

That's much better, it has bothered me to only get 50 points when I get 2 of the 3 areas correct.

As someone who has no idea who this silva opponent is and has watched minimal MMA in the past few years partly because of the boredom of those who cannot be beaten.

In everyones opinion, What are silvas opponents chances tonight ? if they fought 100 times, could he beat him even once? I honestly don't know the dude.

Thanks for any opinions.

Interesting, that's going to get me to start picking more TKOs even when I think a decision is actually more likely.

In my uneducated opinion, it depends who you believe.

If you believe that Anderson was never in trouble against Chael and was just toying with him the first fight, then Weidman has no chance.
If you believe that in the first fight Chael used his superior wrestling to control Silva and was destined for a decision win until he got caught in a momentary lapse, the Weidman has a 50% chance of not getting knocked out or submitted (Weidman is a good upcomming wrestler, and many think wrestling may be Silva's one weakness).

The oddsmakers are giving Weidman a little better than a 1 in 3 chance of winning. It's a hard line to set, because Weidman has not really proven himself against top level opposition, but he looks extremely dominant in many of his wins, and he has skills (good takedowns and control) that Silva has shown weakness against in the past. (I was expecting to bet on Weidman, but I think the -160 line is nuts, so I bet Silva.)

I think Silva will probably clown him, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the opposite happened and Weidman beats the shiat out of him. One of the things that makes it exciting is that it feels like really anything could happen.

My guess is Silva would win 75-80/100. The guy is ridiculously talented and the only reason it isn't higher is Weidman is a real good wrestler and Silva is 38. The only person who came close to beating Silva in the UFC was Sonnen with his wrestling (Sonnen could not finish since he can't strike for shiat), and Weidman is a better striker than Sonnen.

I look forward to the fight. Weidman's strengths fit SIlva's weaknesses. The problems Weidman has are getting through SIlva's stand up and he's really green.

I think Silva TKOs him.

Nothing that happens tonight will change the legacy that Silva leaves behind.    Longest winning streak, most title defenses, and ridiculous ability to make good opponents  look like absolute chumps isn't a myth.

But, the guy is 38 years old and has to lose sometime, and Weidman is the best MW prospect to come along in a decade, at least.

One possibility tonight that I'm not seeing anyone talk about is that it could be a very boring fight.  Weidman has the right mindset in fighting; he won't feel the pressure to be offensive if he doesn't see an opening.  Silva is a counter-striker, patient from the guard, and NEVER panics.  This could very well be 25 minutes of refusal to engage standing and Weidman holding Silva down, with both guys waiting for a mistake that never comes.

Close round. I think Mitchell by a hair 10-9

I think Weidman will pressure Silva. If it's boring, it will probably be Silva insisting on a huge amount of distance like with Silva / Maia and Silva / Leites.

Weidman could do a lot of taking Silva down and holding him down, but would that really be that boring, given the significance of the event?

1-1. Picked the round and method for the first fight.

All downhill from here!
