The university still plans to give President Bush an award. They're just going to rename it.

Rename it the "King Joffrey Decider" Award.

Let some African state give him an award.  That might have been the one thing he did right.

Africans didn't elect him, no awards from the US.

/One of the worst presidents in the history of the United States.

He also created the world's largest marine sanctuary in the Northwest Hawaiian Islands, and never gets props for that.

Bush is a shiatheel, but he did do a lot to help HIV victims and prevention in Africa. More than any president we have ever had, in fact.

Yeah why didn't Washington do more to fight AIDS.

Shutting down Bush's torture program does nothing to reduce its atrociousness.

You really think he shut it down? He just outsourced it to other nations.

The important thing is that you aren't even trying to pretend Bush didn't have people tortured.

I don't think Bush deserves this award yet.  However, I think if he went full Jimmy Carter, and made African AIDS prevention his issue, he could deserve a Nobel Peace Prize some day.  It would probably take several decades though.

And by refusing to give any aid funding to organizations that supported abortion and female contraception use, he invalidated whatever good he did, considering the huge benefit to female reproductive health those options rovide. Oh, and let's not forget his support for US religious orgs who both supported the African congregations behind the anti-witch massacres, and the African law-makers behind the "execute all the gays" bills that have been sweeping across the central continent. Oh yes, a lot of good Bush did there, certainly.

From what the Nobel folks had to say about it, it seemed more like a "please god don't be as bad as Bush; just end these wars and go home already" prize, but yeah, also a huge sigh of European relief.

You're more than likely correct, sadly. However do you have any proof of that assertation that wasn't sourced from someone's asshole?

I did read an article about a year ago about that occurring, but didn't save the link. My guess is when they (either another country or the CIA) arrest someone and the arrested sits in custody under the intelligence agency of that country for a few months, there is a reason for the delay.

I'll help your country. I'll start by destroying all of your bridges and power plants.

I'll bring you democracy and freedom. I'll start by hiring a bunch of mercenaries to drag you from your homes and drag you from your cars and destroy you from the air.

I'll rebuild your country. I'll do it by hiring all of my buddy's companies to rebuild all the stuff I destroyed in the first place. What, you want a job rebuilding your country? Nope. Sorry. Dick Cheney's pals need a few billion from my treasury.
