Other than defunding some legitimate groups in favor of some fundie-based aid groups Bush's work in Africa was pretty commendable although at the time I cynically wrote it off as a goodwill tour in advance of the Iraq invasion which also greased the skids somewhat for the setting up of the separate US Command group for Africa.

So, give the war criminal his prize.

Credit where's due and all that.

The university still plans to give President Bush an award. They're just going to rename it.

Christopher Hill, the dean of the Korbel School that will be giving the award, says the award will be named something "along the lines of 'The Chancellor's Award' or the 'Presidential Award'" instead.

"Sir, on behalf of the Korbel School and the University of Denver, we'd like to present you with the "Thank God for Small Favors Presidential Award." We know you had it in you to push the little red button on your desk, sending us all into an apocalyptic nuclear nightmare from which the world would never recover. Instead, you only invaded a few countries, enabled the crash of the world economy, and supported extrajudicial imprisonment and torture.

So we proudly present you with this award for not blowing up the entire planet. As bad as you were, you could have been worse."

And by refusing to give any aid funding to organizations that supported abortion and female contraception use, he invalidated whatever good he did, considering the huge benefit to female reproductive health those options rovide. Oh, and let's not forget his support for US religious orgs who both supported the African congregations behind the anti-witch massacres, and the African law-makers behind the "execute all the gays" bills that have been sweeping across the central continent. You're more than likely correct, sadly. However do you have any proof of that assertation that wasn't sourced from someone's asshole?

I did read an article about a year ago about that occurring, but didn't save the link. My guess is when they (either another country or the CIA) arrest someone and the arrested sits in custody under the intelligence agency of that country for a few months, there is a reason for the delay.

I will save your country. I'll start by bombing a restaurant in a residential neighborhood.

I'll help your country. I'll start by destroying all of your bridges and power plants.

I'll bring you democracy and freedom. I'll start by hiring a bunch of mercenaries to drag you from your homes and drag you from your cars and destroy you from the air.

I'll rebuild your country. I'll do it by hiring all of my buddy's companies to rebuild all the stuff I destroyed in the first place. What, you want a job rebuilding your country? Nope. Sorry. Dick Cheney's pals need a few billion from my treasury.

I wish there was a hell so Dubya could burn in it.

Let's be honest. Texas, probably the greatest state in the Union, would be a tinder box if Bush hadn't cleared all that brush. I understand he did it on his own dime, too. Not like Obama's $200M/day field trip to over shadow Mandela.

No?

Why not?  Because he killed a lot of people?

George w. bush killed a LOT more people than Osama bin Laughin'.

Of course, since you're a wingnut, you value non-American lives at zero.  Fine.  Even if we only count Americans, george w. bush still killed a LOT more people than Osama bin Laughin'.

If George W. Bush is a criminal for launching the Iraq War, he at worst joins an esteemed list of U.S. Presidents in the waging of unnecessary, misguided or outright shamefully predatory wars. I don't see us or the international community clamoring to demolish monuments to McKinley, Wilson and Polk (to name a few of the more egregious offenders).

Nor should he; I presume a time machine would be an invaluable national security asset. What I would suggest, rather, is that international praise wait to be bestowed until an individual has proven themselves beyond the simple title of "Not George W. Bush".
