The university still plans to give President Bush an award. They're just going to rename it.

Forget the award, send him to a country that has no problems with arresting him and charging him with war crimes.

He did good things in Africa.  Can't say he was the greatest President we've had, but I do have to give him credit where credit is due.

Obama is doing a fine job of proving that Bush wasn't all that bad.

Other than defunding some legitimate groups in favor of some fundie-based aid groups Bush's work in Africa was pretty commendable although at the time I cynically wrote it off as a goodwill tour in advance of the Iraq invasion which also greased the skids somewhat for the setting up of the separate US Command group for Africa.

So, give the war criminal his prize.

Credit where's due and all that.

Not as much as Obama's, naturally.  Obama's trip cost ALL the money.  Every last cent of it.

Bush is a shiatheel, but he did do a lot to help HIV victims and prevention in Africa. More than any president we have ever had, in fact.

Why do they feel the need to give him an award at all?  We were gonna give him a humanitarian award, but it was brought to our attention that that was kind of silly, so now we're gonna give him another award and we just aren't sure what to call it or what it'll be for?

Am I failing at reading comprehension right now?

The university still plans to give President Bush an award. They're just going to rename it.

Christopher Hill, the dean of the Korbel School that will be giving the award, says the award will be named something "along the lines of 'The Chancellor's Award' or the 'Presidential Award'" instead.

"Sir, on behalf of the Korbel School and the University of Denver, we'd like to present you with the "Thank God for Small Favors Presidential Award." We know you had it in you to push the little red button on your desk, sending us all into an apocalyptic nuclear nightmare from which the world would never recover. Instead, you only invaded a few countries, enabled the crash of the world economy, and supported extrajudicial imprisonment and torture.

So we proudly present you with this award for not blowing up the entire planet. As bad as you were, you could have been worse."
