"Neverland" was excellent, and he played against his normal character type by playing a somewhat normal human, instead of a wacky character.

Really though, the guy gets paid to do over-the-top wacky characters. As an actor, if you wnat to do that, that sounds like a fun gig.

I thought he was good in Rum Diary. I think he should make movies for all of Hunter S. Thompson's books. Hell, I think he should do enough acid so that he thinks he's Hunter S. Thompson, write a book as Hunter S. Tompson, then convert that book into a movie. My amusement requires it.

Pacino, Dustin Hoffman, DeNiro, Jack Nicholson...they all got old and went for the money and for the easy roles. Hell, Michael Caine admitted to doing films for the money. I'll still watch Depp in most anything compared to some actors out there now.

Not to crap on Depp or FALILV but Where The Buffalo Roam with Bill Murray as HST is far better.

I'm so mad about Dark Shadows. Depp & Burton were such big fans of the series, they said. I was really looking forward to it, and then I got THAT.

"Dead man" is the best film he starred in. The supporting cast is unbeatable. And Neil Young playing guitar sans vocals for the soundtrack. Best film ever!

MurphyMurphy: The Ninth Gate, Secret Window, From Hell, The Astronauts Wife

What happened after Edward Sissorhands? Well it stopped being 1990, he turned 30 and kept maturing. As did his movies.  And in my opinion a lot of his later movies (above) are his best.

If you can't party with the 20-something Depp you're nostalgia has convinced you is beyond compare, just don't take the Gilbert Grape VHS out of your VCR. It's that easy.

And if you can't come to grips that a pile of millions might motivate an actor to make a Disney movie, then nothing will remove you from your fantasy world.
