I guess they discovered that resistance was futile.

And they were right to do it, too!!  Gordon Ramsey will hit you in the face with a shovel.  He's rough as a cob.  He will kick you in the nuts and rub your face right in it.  You have fifteen seconds to comply...

A lot of places will do that. I was kicked out of a table in Las Vegas for the same reason (well it wasn't Gordon Ramsay but some other guy) They ordered bottle service and we didn't so they get the table. Yes being rich and famous has it perks.

Doesn't seem like the type of behavior Ramsey would expect or tolerate from a restaurant.

"silly shivers of the month"?

I think something's being lost in translation there.

TV GOrdon would have dressed down the owners for driving away potential regulars to kiss the ass of a small-time celebrity who will likely never be back no matter how good the service was.

I would probably make the entire restaurant very uncomfortable if they tried that with me.  Perhaps whipping it out and pissing on a table or two.

Only one time in my entire life have I ever dealt with a situation like this.  I was having lunch with a (cute) co-worker at patio restaurant and the waitress started getting pushy about us leaving to make the table available.  I told her, "we can leave right this second, but I will never come back if I do."  She backed off.  It wasn't like we had been lingering, either.  If we'd been nursing a single glass of wine for the last hour, I might have had some sympathy.

That same also applies to that a-hole Anthony Bourdain.

I don't want to seem like I'm white knighting Gordon Ramsey, but how is this his fault? They called ahead and made reservations. It's the management of the restaurant that kicked out the customers unnecessarily.

I would have also mentioned how farking horrible the service/management was to Gordon on his way out.

And tell him the episodes of F-Word w/ Jeremy Clarkson and James May were farking hillarious.

If that shiat happened to me I would flip the table and then dump a steamer on the bill

These people raped and pillaged Europe, then got kicked out of Norway for being too nasty so they went to Scotland, grabbed a bunch of slave girls, and headed off to settle on a farking giant volcano in the North Atlantic.

Recently they fought a war against England over fish.

Nowadays they can be found performing pagan rituals and pulling jet planes around with their teeth.

AND THEY LET SOME PUSSY LIMEY coont STEAL THEIR TABLE?!?

Third. this is just a shiatty decision by the management that night. Some restaurants can't get  celebrity crank into their mouths fast enough so they can put a signed headshot on the wall.

This. Those people admitted they arrived early and were sitting there for hours. Another party had reservations. GTFO, already. They weren't even kicked out -- they were moved from a table to the bar.

Non-story.

You're not fooling anyone, Gordon's publicist.  If you call to make a reservation and the tables that they reserve for you are currently occupied by people who appear to want to remain there for a while:  That owner made a bad decision.  No its not the tv cook's fault, no one is saying that, its the bar owner for pushing off current customers to make way for an unknown amount of 'important' ones.

I'd leave, with three conditions.

1. I'm not paying my bill.  If you expect me to pay, then I'm staying at my table.
2. I'm never coming back.
3. I'll bad-mouth this place to everyone I know, forever.

But then, the odds are very low that I would be in any place where any celebrity is likely to show up, anyway.

This is all on top of the fact that Gordon Ramsay is a reality TV zero, and this country (and, oddly, Iceland) has sunk to the point of greedily slobbering on the nob of whatever reality TV zero is pushed at us at any given moment.  Somehow I've been transported into an alternate universe and I can't get out.

If you find a way out, can you take me?  I'd probably have the same three conditions.

Kibbler: he fact that Gordon Ramsay is a reality TV zero

No he's not. He has an actual skill, and is well respected within his actual profession. He didn't buy those Michelin stars or get them by taking off his shirt. I would argue reality TV zeros are those who are only famous for being famous. (Or sex tape).

That being said, I'm really unhappy with how uncouth he acted towards Dita Von Teese on the F word. He acted like a complete farking ass, asking her if it was weird to be in her clothes.

That and when he ate a puffin. :(

Fox can't seem to get enough of him, but he's turned into some sort of monster. Unfortunate. The first British Kitchen Nightmares were very good.

They'd whip out their cell phones and try to take photos of Ramsay as they were being rushed out.

Yeah, you could watch the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares and come away with some good insights into how to run a restaurant.  The US version is Ramsay and the assholes running the shiatty restarant he's gone to trying to out-asshole each other.

And as for the "silly shivers" comment in the headline: that's gotta be some idiomatic Icelandic expression that's being literally translated.  Because I have no farking idea what thats supposed to mean.

TFA "people were told to leave their tables - as 'famous people were on their way"

I had that once in a nightclub in Soho. In my case it was Cat Deeley (UK Farkers knows who she is).  My friend looked the manager in the eye and and she told him to go fark himself as we had as much right to be there as that 'nobody'.
