If your travel documents are all messed up, don't fly out of the country. No matter what anyone tells you over the phone, how many bureaucrats tell you it's fine, how many Yahoo! Answers you read that say it's no problem. Stay in Los Angeles and get an immigration lawyer with the plane ticket money.

Anyone who's ever made more than one trip to the DMV in a day knows this. Most of these "messed up documentation" cases go wrong when the person flies home to visit family or takes a vacation and can't get back in. Los Angeles is a beautiful city, with gorgeous weather and plenty of work. You could do worse as a refugee.

12 million people? There's gotta be some place willing to take in 12 million undocumented people... a country that, by mere virtue of its existence, welcomes people who want to work legally and enjoy citizenship.

If only there was a country that exists like that today..... can't think of a damn one.

MFAWG: What kind of idiot goes on 'vacation' knowing that their ability to travel internationally is highly restricted by circumstances such as this?

(And yes, I get that American Samoa is not technically international travel, but the point still stands)

Yeah, that seemed pretty farking dumb.  There was nowhere actually in the US-proper that you could vacation?

Normally I'd applaud going off the beaten path, but if you're barely even allowed here in the first place, leaving for a vacation isn't a good plan.
