"Excuuuuuse meh, Muffy. Oh Muffy!  This   person apparently doesn't know who I am!"  You can say what you like about working class neighborhoods but being a pushy, snotty, rude, mouthy douchebag is very likely to get your ass kicked up around your shoulder blades in one and your 27,000.00 "beater" keyed with a paint scraper.  Dear trustafarians.  The biggest cockwad doesn't "win".  Honest.

It's a tough row to joe for the NY Post.  It caters to working class sensibilities, including a Murdoch-subsidized lower price, while managing to deliver the usual pro-rich, anti-labor, anti-working class and poor messages.

The guy's right about the summer people.

I was invited out to the Hamptons for 2 weekends over the last couple of years and the behavior I saw was so offputting that I'm declining this year.

I have less than zero interest in dealing with horrendous traffic only to get out there and see all the smoldering dickbags (to borrow a phrase from Salon), eating overpriced food and swimming in the same ocean I can swim in over at Brighton Beach. (and get there on the subway to boot)

I know rich people, not many mind you, that are respectful of everyone within reason.
I think the rich would be just as arrogant if they were poor just because they were brought up to be just stupid farking assholes.

I see it everyday. No respect for thy neighbor from rich to poor. Your parents are a disease that is spreading.

same with Newport, RI.  (hell, same with any summer place).  Good buddy of mine lived in Newport year round for work.  We all quickly found out Summer = Crowds, D-bags, crowds, traffic and crowds.  Going to visit him in the winter meant no crowds, no lines, and nothing really but crusty old hard-drinking fishermen and Salve Regina girls.  Winter was much more fun!

That's only so other hunters can see you but color-blind animals can't. Makes it less sporting for your prey to be so visible, actually.

Where's the Jersey Shore version??  I can upload pics of the fist-pumping idiots chanting, "Bel-mar!  Bel-mar!" that I was stuck behind on the Parkway on Wednesday.  Or the morons accusing the cashier at 7-11 for hiding the beer when the tourists come (NJ doesn't sell alcohol in convenience stores).  Or the countless jerks w/NY or PA tags who double-park or just STOP THE HELL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD when they can't find a parking space.  It's farking insane down here during the summer!

Yeah, I know they bring the tourist dollars and, after Sandy, we need it more than ever, but they don't have to be douches about it.  They act like spoiled kids, expecting deferential, almost reverential, treatment for "deigning" to come to our little hamlets here.  I don't understand that attitude.  I don't go to NYC and expect to be treated differently just because I'm not from there & am spending money.

The real DB is the person who used Facebook for this.  Out of the thousands of possible places to post sets of pictures, he picked the ONE that is worst for the purpose.  Tumblr, Flikr, instawhatever, hell, even geocities would have worked back before it disappeared off the face of the Earth.  But Facebook?  For photo sharing?  What a waste.

Eh, lots of tourists think that wherever they go on vacation is Disneyworld.  "You mean people in Paris/DC/NY/Rome/etc. actually have office jobs?"

Just to be clear, I was just laughing at and paraphrasing the article quote.  And I certainly would admit there are obviously polite rich people, and extremely obnoxious poor people.  But, someone acting like a jackass and then saying that to the "locals" is just amusing.
