(Fark)   What's your favorite summertime beverage? Cocktails are fine, but I mean stuff like iced tea, lemonade, soda, or just ice water? What do you like when it's hot out and you just want something to cool off with?   (fark.com) divider line 149

Studies have shown that a beer will quench your thirst, and rehydrate you, faster than gatorade.

I usually go for iced tea.  They make some passable cold-brew stuff these days if you don't like standing around waiting for stuff to boil and then decanting it.  Or if you do, green tea with jasmine is very nice when iced.

I mix homemade elderflower syrup with ice-cold sparkling mineral water and a some lemon juice. One of the most refreshing drinks I know.

I drink a lot of sparkling water, always. Sometimes with a finger or so of juice in it. (I like pomegranate.)

Iced tea, or rather iced herbal tea - mint or cinnamon - unsweetened.

Iced latte for a rare indulgence since I can't have much milk or caffeine.

Also adore frappucino-style drinks, but CBTL's version is better.... wish I could have one every day :-)

I drink ice water mostly.  Otherwise mint iced tea, a green tea latte, iced decaf coffee, or something from Lollicup would be my choice.

i freeze partially-filled water bottles and a gallon jug and work on those throughout the day. i also have a pitcher that i fill with water every otherish day and put slices of lemon or clementines, cucumber, mint, ginger, whatever's around - and leave it overnight. it's ok.

Leinenkugal's Summer Shandy is practically a lemonaid and it's refreshing.

Sweet tea or lemonade. Sometimes I mix the two. But I mix lemonade with unsweetened tea. And a lot of spring water.

Once in a while, an iced mochaccino on a sunny day will just make me happy to be alive.

Ice water with a slice of lemon. I used to be an iced coffee person but the caffeine just makes me sweat.

A nice see-through beer after lawn work is nice. If I am out and about, I prefer tea. Any type, I'm not picky.

Ice water most of the time.  Sometimes, iced tea with lemon.

2013-07-05 08:29:23 AM
Freshly squeezed lime juice + Iced tea powder (Lipton preferably) + Cold water + A little bit of sugar

Mix that all up and place it in the freezer till it reaches slush like consistency. Enjoy.

Used to be Gatorade when I was outside exerting myself, now iced tea (real tea, not powder). I don't care if it's a diuretic and it kills me. I like it.

2013-07-05 08:31:05 AM
Usually it's Arizona Sweet Tea or lemonade.  I prefer Nantucket Nectars lemonade, but I'll take what I can get.

\though lately I've been on a huge Mio kick
\\I've lost about 20 lbs just by switching from extra soda to Mio

No matter the temps, I have to have a mug of hot tea...you feel cooler when you're sweating!

Otherwise if no beer or cocktails, water, water, water. I like to put some fresh mint leaves from my garden in it. Gives it even more of a cooling effect.

Heineken, though the Sam Adams Summer Ale is pretty good this year.

Iced Tea. No sugar. At all.

Red Powerade or purple Gatorade.

I like beer, too, but most of my favs are Tripels or DIPAs, so they're too heavy to be refreshing if I'm dehydrated.

Tap water that has been in the fridge for several hours so it is very cold. Nothing better than the classic.

I can't believe there's another Farker that makes their own elderflower syrup. That stuff is good! A lot of work to make, but all every good things are.

Also Coca Cola from the fountain when it is very syruppy or out of the 8oz glass bottle

Thai iced coffee is pretty damned good.

Brew a pot of coffee & chill in the refrigerator.
Put about 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk in the bottom of a tall glass, add ice cubes, pour the coffee over the top.

Has anyone else ever drank a gallon of distilled water? This was before you could buy bottled water in ever Quick Crack and Hole in the Chuck convenience store. It was 100 degrees and I was spending 8 hours a day in a car with no air conditioning. I pulled in to a quick shop in Tolono Illinois, bought a gallon of distilled water and a large cup of ice. No. They didn't have a gallon of drinking water either.

I went south on Highway 45 and must have drunk it all before Pesotum. Before Tuscola, I had to go - NOW! So I pulled off the road, popped the hood and looked like I was working on the car whilst peeing as though I were a Russian racehorse. It was through me in less that 20 miles.

What we call "Sauergespritzter" here in Hesse, Germany: Cider with mineral water. A little bit sour, very refreshing ... yum. Don't use that french Cidre, it's way too sweet.

Whenever a batch of homebrew comes in way under gravity, it becomes thirsty beer. As in, I drink it until I'm not thirsty any more.

I dont know, it was kind of confusing at first but the little bugger has grown on me. He's probably just thirsty.

Ice water + Lemon juice. Wedge? Slice? Why work for it, what you want is the juice.

2013-07-05 08:39:03 AM
I was drinking the tonic waters (plain, with lime or raspberry) but for real thirst quenching is a 1/4 cup of cranberry concentrate in 2 quarts of ice cold water (no sugar or sweeteners).

2013-07-05 08:39:16 AM
Shake up a bottle of Coke, then put that and a glass in the freezer for a little more than three hours. Then take the Coke and screw the cap off very slowly. The Coke is now super cooled. When you pour it into the cold glass, you get Coke slush

I seem to recall being told is was either dangerous or unhealthy to drink distilled water, lack of ions or something

Ice cold coors light best summer drink

gin and tonics for me

"This" year?  It's always good, and infinitely better than the Coors Light my bandmates like to drink.

I just dehydrate until my skin is the consistency of beef jerky.  Then people find me appetizing.

On a hot summer day... there's noting quite like a fresh jar of Jenkem, with a few fresh mint leaves to accentuate the bouquet.  Hits the spot every time.
