Her fiancee seems to be just kind of standing on the shore watching this all unfold. She seems driven and aggressive. He seems passive and weak.

I give this marriage 6 years and two kids.

Or maybe he noticed that the water was a foot deep?

Salmon handed the boy back to his grateful mother and explained that she is a trained lifeguard and paramedic. Coincidentally, her fiance Matt Werner, 33, is an EMT and Beerger is also a trained paramedic.

She's trained in water rescue, and he's not. Had you RTFA, you might know that.

Good to note that the water is hip deep at most then. Can't have another EMT or two drowning to save the boy...

That's part of my point. He took no initiative in saving the boy once he saw that his bride to be was already on her way.

I bet he plays a lot of XBox.

Riiiiight.

So someone who's untrained in water rescue should jump into a river when there's already someone WITH water rescue training performing one?

Thanks. Always nice to hear from the armchair rescue randies in the audience.

You are welcome. Lifeguard training is extremely rigorous, or at least it was when I went through it.

If the guy could swim, he'd have been fine. A child that small doesn't pose the threat an adult or even teenager does when rescuing them in deep open water or even a swimming pool.

She saw it first, she's more qualified than he is and he knows it.  He was right to let her do it.

To wit, he could have been in the water to assist if necessary, you know, like the mom was. It wasn't necessary, but it could have been useful.

You can see from the photos she is almost over his head deep before she even reaches him. that clearly say unless she is only two feet tall you are full of shiat!

Honestly, in this day an age, why would any adult male rescue a child? Especially in a wet environment where you may have to perform mouth to mouth? 30 years ago you'd be a hero, today you'd be a registered sex offender. The fiancé did the right thing by trying to let natural selection occur.

It only takes 3 inches of water to drown a child.

That's a handy tip from your Uncle Lar.

Yes but the depth of the increases the difficulty of the rescue. Children drown in bathtub all the time.

omeganuepsilon: Seriously, redmid got so angry with me in a thread he had to send me a nasty e-mail with a pic of tubgirl.

Hm.

Because someone calls you out and dissects your argument on - well, whatever - in a way that is factually accurate, and forces you to backpedal or further explain your belief in something, that does not make them a troll. That's actually what adults call debate.

Either you're more flip-floppy on actual issues that you post about than Mitt Romney could ever be, or you simply post taking a position for the sake of trolling anyone you can. That's why I call you a troll. Not because you "debate" using philosophical "what-ifs"

Hint: When you go from being far right winged, to in the thread directly above it being far left winged to the point of making the NBPP seem Republican, chances are you're trolling.

Honestly? One of the best movies ever made. Really underrated. Really sad it didn't get a MST3K treatment.

Also strangely prophetic about Detwoit, for some reason.

And for 3 hours, AND they still weren't done?  Three hours is a long, long tiring amount of time to pose for pictures and they were still going.  Heroism aside, jeebus people!  How long will the wedding pictures take?

Right, because everyone toe's the line.  Nobody judges issues based on the pro's and con's of that issue and takes into the details of that specific instance of the issue.  That would be *gasp* obscene.

Your indignation and ignorance is showing. At least the others don't take it quite so seriously as you do when someone says something true about them. They grasp that it's the internet.  But go on, tell me about how you had me on ignore on your other account again, that was entertaining, seeing as how you revel in the butthurt every time I enter a thread with you in it.

Well to be fair, she only left because I refused to stick in that sand infested death trap. No more I said. I'll use a fake one for now when all I want to do is get off.
Sure, I may seriously grudge fark her on occasion when she comes crawling back like she has in the past, but that's what the dirt road is for.  Muddy, but not so much sand, and I know it hurts.  She'll learn, eventually she'll sign papers, maybe, and GTFO for good.
