Complete lock down of an entire city -never happened, about an 8 sq block area of Watertown was shut down, that's it

no fly zone, -don't know what you're talking about

public and private transportation stopped,- the T was shut down, don't know what you mean about private transportation because I was able to drive to, in, and around Boston that day no problem

swat team house to house searches, -only in the area where he was suspected to be

cell towers shut down in Boston -only in the immediate aftermath of the bombing, in the immediate area of the bombing, because they thought there could be more and perhaps they were set off by cell-phone

just to find one teenager who may or may not be armed (or had a bomb) -this is the closest you've come to saying something true. Yes, we wanted the f*cker caught right away - what's your problem with that

was the beginning of the end for personal freedoms. -oh, that's right, you're a hysterical, defeatist, gutless coward, in addition to being a complete moron.

Aquapope: Doesn't that go for everywhere, every day?

Yeah, sure. But you know, some days are more likely that others. At least for people who know how to reason.

Aquapope: Zulu_as_Kono: There could be copycats.

Doesn't that go for everywhere, every day?  I doubt you're that afraid, but I know my parents are ("What if they do another Oklahoma City right here?  RIGHT HERE??)  They vote republican, the party of fear.

I'd have to disagree with with you on the party of fear part there...would you say the Dems haven't used the same tactics with gun control?

Sometime in the near future.
Calls local TSA.
Hello, I'm ready to leave the house.
OK, we'll have a strip search unit there.
Don't leave your auto until your strip searched again.

mizchief: When we are at the point where you have to make decisions based on avoiding police harassment when your otherwise just going about your business and harming no one, we have a problem.

THIS why is that so hard for some of you to figure out?

mraudacia: id say better than half the people on this thread would gladly bend over and take a cavity search if someone told them it was for there own safety.

At least I'm honest and say it's because I get off on prostate play.

mizchief: Was that supposed to make any kind of sense?

Those of us who aren't rich white guys don't have the luxury of choosing to avoid Police harassment.  It happens regardless.

Zulu_as_Kono: TheMysticS: And this year, they're saying no backpacks. How the hell are you supposed to have a picnic?

You could adjust?  It's really not that hard.  But then, anyone who actually goes to the Esplanade on the 4th is probably mentally damaged somehow to begin with, so it could be difficult for them.

I've not ever heard the national mall called the esplanade, but hey, I'm just a dumb Maryland girl- what do I know?

Besides, it's not that bad. It's actually better with the security, no rolling entire kegs around with you, or someone blasting a bottle rocket into some poor kid's face.

But, I go to music festivals, so I probably have a higher tolerance for my fellow humans acting stupid than most.

And adjusting is ok. I adjusted to being inspected to go to the museums, and onto the mall for fireworks in the past, I just think ratcheting up security yet again is overdoing it.
And I was already used to being treated like a criminal just going to rock concerts for the past 25 years.

I forgot to say-
Happy Independence Day all you American Farkers!

Thank you for having a working sense of humor in a sea of harrumphing dolts making their declarations of authority.  It's refreshing.  Happy blowed up good day.

Why, thank you. Happy blowed up day backatcha, my already farkied friend!

jake_lex: We've already had teabagger retards (yes, I know that's redundant) talking about bringing guns to Fourth of July celebrations today.  I can't imagine why law enforcement agencies might feel a need for extra security.

But that's the teabaggers for you.  They express extremely hostile views towards the government, then wonder why the government gives them extra scrutiny.  "Why is the IRS asking if my organization called 'Taxes Are a Fascist Plot To Make Your Kid Marry a Homo' is engaged in political activity?"

Wow, this thread was over at 8:58am.

nmemkha: Mock26 would like to remind the NSA that given his position as an apologists tool, he will be invaluable in keeping the basement dwellers in line.

Are you naturally stupid?  Or do you have to work at it?  Just because I think that this online 4th amendment protest is lame and stupid does not mean that I agreed with what the NSA did.  What level of moranic stupidity does someone have to be to make that leap of illogic between what I said and what you schatt out of your mouth?

Well, whatever grade of stupidity is is nowhere near my own for thinking I was replying in another thread!

Hey, Boo Boo...

I have a nice longaberger one I got as an anniversary gift.

It's pretty big-which is why I don't usr it often.
Probably could fit a pressure cooker in it.

Not very effectively, i'd say.  And the false equivalence of Repub vs Dem just doesn't work. The number of things republicans brag about being afraid of dwarfs that of the dems.

Mike_LowELL: jehovahs witness protection: Obama's personal army assuring he doesn't meet the same fate as Morsi.

Absolutely this and absolutely insane.  The wiretapping, the abuse of presidential power...Richard Nixon would be rolling in his grave right now.

The NSA would be doing this no matter who was president. It's what they've been working towards ever since the NSA was created. The only way to stop it would be to shut down the NSA, and they're making sure they know everything there is to know about anybody who could potentially do that. Eventually, we'll nuke them from space... it's the only way to be sure.

I somehow misread you saying you were at Mt Vernon as you saying you were at Mt Auburn, which is in Cambridge, so I thought you were around Boston, especially since so much of this discussion lately has been about security preparations for here today, in light of the Marathon Bombings.

As far as I know the National Mall has never been called the Esplanade, because the Esplanade is in Boston. Apologies for the confusion.

Not to mention, since guns were brought up, that the current NRA is built upon fearmongering. If LaPierre didn't have "they're coming to take our guns away", what would he have?

Ah.
In the famous Texas vernacular of Rick Perry- oops.

Hope you had a good day.
