America has independance? So all that foreign aid we give everyone is just money we happened to have laying around and didn't want?

Our lawmakers are already a bit mentally challenged, I don't think they need beer to add fuel to that fire.

It's pretty sad people don't think that's OK in more places.

They shouldn't be getting bladdered, but there's nothing wrong with a quick pint with lunch.

I had better hear an Iron Maiden brand soundbite when I open the bottles; galloping bass guitar riff, Bruce's high pitched wail, wailing guitars and rat-a-tat drums.

Most people would be fired for drinking on the job.
And you know who pays for that bar? I'm sure it doesn't come out of their personal pockets.
The rich partying on our dime? (Again.)

They shouldn't be drinking anything while at lunch. It's sad they can't wait till afterwards.

I like a pint at lunchtime once in a while. I really don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Actually, here in the UK, it's still mostly acceptable to have a lunchtime beer. Maybe it's a minority carrying on the tradition, but a pub lunch and a pint once or twice a week is perfectly normal. Sometimes even two pints (on a special occasion)

But yeah, it's true that the bars in Westminster are subsidised by the rest of us. I'm not sure of the current status but (as Westminster is officially a Royal Palace) they are exempt from the nationwide smoking ban too. There was some talk of a voluntary ban being put in place.

Yeah, it is terrible having a bar.

But, luckily, the Palace of Westminster has loads of bars.

And it's not just 1 bar, there are 4!

I've bought some of that Iron Maiden beer. I'm going to see Iron Maiden next month at the o2 in London, i'm saving it for then. I can't help but think i'm setting myself up for a disappointment, though.

I don't want to be a powerslave to the latest trends, as I'd be a prisoner with no piece of mind.  So at two minutes to midnight, I shall be drinking Yeungling, hallowed be thy name, like a trooper, until I begin to see the number of the beast.

I'll give it a try, There is a liquor store the size of a Target near my buddy's house. I'll have to see if they carry it. Even if it's crap I can have a neat bottle to throw up on a shelf.

Have you seen the U.S senate? You WANT those people drunk? You think they DESERVE beer?

Not much of a Trooper beer, is it?
Will the Aces High be pushing 8%?

No they don't deserve beer and neither does the House, but it could be amusing to see what would happen if they tried to work drunk.

In the UK we value a "Session Beer", one you can drink pints and pints of without falling over (too hard). You rarely ever see a beer over 6% on tap, let alone 8%. I think some of the Christmas ales get up there but they tend to be sweet, spiced and served by the half pint. The beers on tap in my local tend to range from 3.8-5.5%.

They've got Chimay Blue in the fridge should you feel the need though :)

Yep, the only regular exception on tap is Leffe and most places won't serve that in pints anymore.

There's always scrumpy on tap in the south-west. It's not beer but it'll get you rat-arsed rather quickly.

That doesn't often make it as far east as Hampshire. We do get "Old Rosie" turning up in places, but that stuff's pretty rank IMHO.

I heard that the London stop of the Iron Maiden tour sold out in 12 minutes, a few days ago.  I can't believe they're still going that strong.  I guess they are still averaging an album every two years or so.

They can sell out pretty much any venue.   I finally saw them last summer after 25 years as a fan and they were amazing.     I drove 2 hours and got a hotel room, and it was worth every penny.   The band and Bruce's vocals sounded great, and they put actually looked like they were making an actual effort for the fans.  Indeed, there were teenagers to 50 year olds having a great time, which is something I rarely see.   (I went to Soundgarden recently and was surprised to see hardly anyone under 25.)   The Iron Maiden crowd knew every lyric to every song.  Imagine a typical concert where two or three hit songs get the crowd's energy level up, and then imagine that level of energy for every song and that is an Iron Maiden concert.  I'm a big fan of Radiohead and finally saw them around the same time as Iron Maiden.  Except for the time spent with friends, I would have enjoyed Radiohead just as much if I had watched it on television.  I was ready to see Iron Maiden again as soon as the show was over.

The the States, if anything, they've been underrated.  On the radio (an antiquated analog wireless audio receiver with a human generated playlist) I can hear AC/DC played 1,000 times before a single Iron Maiden track.
