This is coming from the same man who made an album with Metallica that sucked very, very badly, so I'm not gonna believe his opinion on Douchenozzle's new album.

From what I understand, this album was done alot better 4 years ago with Saul WIlliams and Trent Reznor  on "The Inevitable Rise and LIberation of Niggy Tardust"

On the other hand, even if it is douche-jerk-off Kanye, Im glad main stream hiphop is at least TRYING to move in a new direction.

I love how all the dipshiats who rushed to proclaim this the best album in years have pretty much disappeared now that people have realized what a piece of shiat it is.

Sort of like all the gaming sites that gave the new Sim City best game in years until it went live and they all slid under their piles of payola.

Speaking of Metallica, Lars says this is the best album to drop since St. Anger.

Eh, I've been on both sides of it - I hated the album when I first listened to it other than a couple tracks, then I really liked it...for a couple days.  Now I'm back to thinking it's about average.  Not nearly as shockingly good as MBDTF, but it does have a couple interesting musical ideas.  It just doesn't seem like the same level of care went into it as in his previous - and judging by what I've heard since about how it was semi-thrown together at the last minute, you can hear that.

Plus, the lyrics are, for the most part, ultra-sophomoric, even by Kanye's standards.

I'm a bit disappointed based on my probably unreasonably high expectations coming off his previous album, but it's not terrible, I guess.  It won't stay in my go-to list like MBDTF did (and still does).

Probably because of how much effort he actually put into them:

You apparently weren't part of the threads where people immediately proclaimed that Yeezus is the most creative and important album to drop in the past decade. It was hilarious and bizarre.

fark I know what it sound puts me in mind of! It sounds like as if Year Zero and I'll Sleep When You're Dead had a baby but like only 5-8 years before those albums even came out.

they seem to say this about all of Kanye's album. Maybe it's because I just can't get past his personality (and him farking Kim Kardashian doesn't help me take him seriously either), but I really don't get the hype behind Kanye and how he's considered anything but better-than-average at best.

I come to threads about Kanye albums to have better music suggested to me. Kanye is massively overrated.

2013-07-04 02:07:03 PM
Anyone who tells you this is an "important" or "great" album is either trying to sell you something, has something to gain from your agreement or is simply a goddamn idiot and not to be trusted with anything more important than matching their socks in the morning.

Seriously. If you sit down and listen to the whole thing you can literally hear moments of brilliance strung together with much longer periods of "I have no idea what to do here, so here's this:". It's like he's trying to cover up cluelessness by pretending it's creativity.

That and the lyrics sound like they were written by a 12 year-old that got a hold of his mom's thesaurus, but half the pages were missing.

It puzzled me when two friends claimed that Kanye was "the voice of our generation" (aside from the fact that we're all in our 30s).  I'd like to think my generation deserves a better representative than a self-aggrandizing prima donna phoney with a habit of claiming accolades he hasn't earned.

Not sure what you're talking about. You appear to be saying that only one person ever raved about his new album. I dont know where you're going with that angle. There were a couple TFD threads that instantly announced that Yeezus was brilliant and there were quite a few people explaining at Kanye's a genius. I can't imagine that there weren't a bunch of his defenders in this tab.

Of course, anyone who bothers to read his vapid, self-absorbed, erratic rantings about his own greatness understands that they're not even worthy of being called lyrics.

His comparison of his own opulent lifestyle to "slavery" speaks to more serious personality defects than lacking musical talent.
