Do you get a discount for combining it with a cloud insurance policy?

I think Glenn Beck needs to explain to us why he is conveniently not selling Raped and Murdered in 1990 Insurance.

The robots are taking our food?

Time to buy gold!

Beck claimed that people who buy Food Insurance were actually like the Founding Fathers who would "sit in a room for years and study and try to figure out: What does freedom mean and how do we make people free?"

ahahahahah

This is nothing new and not newsworthy.  I've heard these ads for survival food supplies since Y2K on various shows.  The only difference is that Beck's show isn't on overnight.

If you listen to enough radio, you hear the same ads on most shows, just like podcasts have the same advertisers.

The Food Insurance website offers the "Glenn Basic Kit" and the "Glenn Beck Deluxe Kit" of emergency food in case of emergencies.

So we're to feast on Glenn Beck after the apocalypse?

Don't have enough money to by Glen Beck food?  Just sell all the gold he got you to buy. The price should be through the roof by now.

Glenn Beck took David Icke's "be farking crazy" game and made it profitable by reversing it.  He drives other people insane, and then gets them to give him their money.

Seems like he has just found another product to sell to his fearful Gold bugs. I have no problem with him parting stupid people from their money.

Isn't this just packaged food, like what you can buy at any store?
I understand the desire to prep but I'm failing to see the novelty here.

Why did he lose his Fox show again? And don't say he was too batshiat for even them cuz we know that's not true.

It probably has his picture on it, and costs twice as much.

// I have been intrigued by the giant pallet if dry food package that Costco always has on their website.

If Beck's fans can't see that they're getting conned by this, they deserve it.

A fool and his money are lucky to have gotten together in the first place.

Glen Beck was working with people who committed fraud? Say it ain't so! Makes me wonder just what's in those food packs...a little liquid refreshment, perhaps?

SiriusXM does audio simulcasts of the major cable news outlets (MSNBC/CNN/FNC), but they're not allowed to broadcast the ads that would normally air, so they have to do their own.  It's pretty slim pickings:

DAVE SMITH MOTORS!
Credit repair groups (one with Alan Thicke as spokesman)
Backwoods TN property
...and about 3 others that fortunately escape me right now (smartmouth was one)

/still better than listening to the FM dial, usually just hop over to 80s on 8.

Gold rip-offs, financial apocalypse books, food insurance why to these types of scams keep being advertised on conservative radio programs?

Everyone knows conservatives are way too smart to be fooled by these frauds.

As soon as he started going batshiat, people started complaining to advertising businesses and those advertisers started dropping him. After that, the Fox News sales guys couldn't find companies to replace them, apart from cut-rate gold scams which paid a lot less than the old advertisers.

Doesn't matter if your ratings are the best on the network. If your show can't make money, you're gone.

Doing a quick Google search you find you can get this stuff fairly cheap. Bet if you do a little haggling with the company directly you could get large amounts for a very good deal. Need to look into getting into this racket myself.

Oh go to conservative websites. They have ads of similar scams.

It's almost like advitizers think conservatives are gullible.

And gold has intrinsic value. You can eat... Wait no. You can drink... No. Well umm, when the shiat hits the fan you can make gold jewelry when no one else can.

And according to inside sources, Beck wasn't staying "on message".  As we've seen with other insiders, Fox News gives their shows and personalities a lot of leeway to figure out how to drive the desired narrative, and they really do encourage them to come up with new ways/ideas/talking points to deliver that narrative (an odd, warped, bottom-up structure).  Of course, Roger Ailes and his lackeys actively police their people to make sure they're not going completely off-message (as we discovers and discussed in the Fox News Mole thread last month).  Even O'Reilly frequently clashed with Ailes, and according to the mole the verbal arguments could be heard halfway across the building.

This snippet from the Atlantic two years ago shows just how far away from the narrative Beck had gotten.  The Guardian also pointed out that while Beck's ratings were steady, this deviation from the narrative was seen as a liability purely from a branding perspective.  Although this quote in that Guardian article almost made me do a spit-take:

Smart businesses sometimes take short-term profit losses in order to move in a direction that could help provide long-term sustainability of the organisation (similarly, NFL teams sometimes let superstars who are past their prime depart, even though it has an adverse impact on their ability to win today).

I find that absolutely hilariously ironic, considering the modern brand of Fox News-supported conservatism and the underlying corporatism place immense value on short-term gain and individual freedom/negative rights over long-term sustainability.

See, this is the kind of liberal "think think think" attitude that is going to get all you college boys rounded up into forced labor camps when the shiat goes down. Real Men are men of action, not thought, and don't even hesitate to pay twice as much for MRE's just because they're being sold as "Food Insurance". What am I supposed to do, not buy Food Insurance? That's just irresponsible.

I used the most generic word that came to mind.  You have to admit, doing what he does takes some amount of uncommon skill sets.  The problem is how he's using them.  He cares more about personal gain than treating people ethically.  He exists in a land of "harmful to others yet still legal" mostly because of the ineptness of our law creation and maintenance system.  He needs moral guidance, and it's damning to the Mormon faith to have him in their number.

I imagine they are just like buying rations.

2013-07-04 10:28:50 AM
If he had any integrity he'd simply endorse a business that already sells this sort of thing. A good example is Emergency Essentials in Utah, which markets to Mormons and sells via a catalog. I've bought stuff from them for years, but fortunately have never had to use it (and it expires surprisingly fast - time flies!).

Beck is just an amoral shill.

Sgt Otter: It would be news if Glenn Beck didn't compare himself to the Founding Fathers.

Ironic, considering the Founding Fathers would likely look at Beck the same way they looked at a drunken horse-buggerer rubbing shiat on himself outside the tavern.

Am I the only one who read the headline and thought it was actual insurance and not 'survival rations'.
You know like a safety net.
