I was at the Memphis show last night - it was pretty disappointing. None of the classic stuff, just a bunch of new songs that nobody recognized or really wanted to hear. If I'd paid for the ticket, I would've been seriously pissed.

I haven't seen Dylan in a few years, but seriously, do you really just go for the old shiat?  Not that the old shiat is bad, but any musician who just plays old shiat is not creating new shiat.

Did you actually expect him to play Free Bird?

No, but I did expect him to play at least one or two songs that I'd recognize, and he didn't. It was a pretty short set for a headliner, too.

THIS.
I'd like to add that Robillard is a great show, too.

I may be feeding a troll but this is the setlist from last night...
 Things Have Changed

Love Sick
High Water
Soon After Midnight
Early Roman Kings

Tangled Up in Blue
Duquesne Whistle
She Belongs to Me
Beyond Here Lies Nothing
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
Blind Willie McTell
Simple Twist of Fate
Summer Days
All Along the Watchtower
Ballad of a Thin Man

This is a fairly varied setlist with a whopping 4 songs off his his last two studio releases. Would you rather he just play blowin in the wind 20 times and call it a night?

Dylan is basically just an improv jazz act now.   The first few times I saw him live I hated it, but it's grown on me.      He's mostly keeping himself amused while he sees how far he can fark with his audience and his backing band.    His   band is a collection of top-shelf and grizzled road warriors, and most of them have worked with him for years, but it's still funny   to watch them all scramble and try to hide the  collective "Where the fark is he going with this?" look on their face.

15 songs, roughly 4 from the 60's, 2 from the 70's, 2 from the 80's, 1 from the 90's, 6 from the 00's and after..

If you go see Dylan, The Stones, Van Halen, The Eagles, etc. you go to see them do their back catalog.  Listening to their new stuff is basically the price you pay (outside of outrageous ticket prices) to hear what you want to hear.

Last time I saw Dylan (about ten years ago) I was standing in the lineup for the men's room after the show.  The two guys in front of me were arguing about whether or not he'd played Tangled Up In Blue.  The arrangements were so different and the vocals so garbled that no one really had any idea what half the set list had been.

My brother was pretty pissed that Dylan never said one word to the crowd for the entire show.  I quote:  A hundred bucks for a ticket and the bastard couldn't even manage a  Thank you, good night?

Bob Dylan is as relevant as the Pony Express. And his music sucks.

Sorta like Springsteen.

/2 fer 1!

Dylan has been an over-rated hack for several decades.

His songwriting and composition have been top-notch for forever. His performance and timbre have been shiat for about the same amount of time.

Sadly, most people can't tell the difference. He's the Tom Brady of music.

Robillard is an amazing player.

I was kind of surprised he was in that gig....he's an old dude and I can't see how the road would agree with him very much.

Hard Rain

Ballad of a Thin Man

You don't know any of these songs?

Things have changed
Love Sick
High Water
Summer Days

They are newer songs but still good.
