Just needs some spackle and paint.

uhmmm... I like Bob and I like him as Saul but that won't carry an entire series.

I wonder if that means they're planning to kill him...

They can call the sequel/prequel "Mr Blow".

He'll be in jail or dead by the end.  He's in too deep.

Yeah, the fact that they are discussing this as a prequel is a definite spoiler.

I heard it bandied about as maybe a prequel log before they announced anything.  Maybe they read rumors about their own upcoming projects and like to tease people about future plot points.

I don't have any idea where this show is heading, but I'm looking forward to the ride.

That's what they said about Kelsey Grammer.

If given the right set of supporting characters, this could be a hit.

What I would love to see is a Wiseguy type series where there is a series of story arcs, each one following the person on the other end of each of the burner phones in Saul's desk.

Yeah, Saul deserves a killing.  Please, kill him.  I hate lawyers and Saul is among the best of him, but please please kill him  off.

It probably won't happen.  I'm thinking Saul Goodman comes out well by series end and Walter and Jesse will end up alone and in despair.  I haven't quite worked it out, but this can't end well.

Actually, I always thought he'd be the one character who would get out unscathed. But we'll see.

As for the character pulling an entire series, 90% of scripted shows are about doctors, cops or lawyers, At least he'd be entertaining.

they need to do a crossover episode where it is revealed that the zombie apocalypse in walking dead was caused by a bad batch of experimental meth Jesse or walter made and Badger is actually zombie patient zero.

You can't turn away from the Zimmerman trial? I'm spending 3 months in the general area it's happening in and the only reason I can't turn away from it is that no one around me will STFU about it.

He's getting off, make with the riots already and be done with it.

Yeah, I think they'd pretty much have to make it a prequel. If it stays set in ABQ anyway. It would be pretty boring watching him hide once a week...and you couldn't have him change his name and move away. Wouldn't be the same. He's definitely in way too deep to be able to continue life normally after all the craziness.

I do think they will let him survive BB, though. If not for the spin-off alone. If it is successful it leaves more options if nothing else. Going to need good make-up artists to get him to look younger though.
I think it could be good even if spin-offs rarely work.

We're at my wife's grandmother's today selling her old airstream and all she ever has on is Fox news. I was so bored, I watched Ocean's 12 on the other TV just to get away from it. But then something insane will happen, like the Skype thing, and I'll get drawn back in.

I feel like this prequel thing is just spoiler control for the last BB season. They let the Saul out of the bag early, letting everyone know he'd survive the series, so they have to float this piece

/I'd give it a watch either way

I have always thought he was the second best cusser ever (behind Ian McShane of course).

"Now I have a question and I know you all have it, too. WHAT is up Satan's ass? All he wants to do is fark us up, the dicklicker! The lord said, "I am the light of the world." I'm not sure. There's probably more potential for interesting stories showing how Saul got to where he is, and the people he met along the way, than after Walk messed up his life.

Kinda the opposite, really. If they only discussed it as one or the other, then *that* would be a definite spoiler. By keeping it up in the air, and saying it could be one or the other, they're just hyping up the "will he survive?" question going in to the final episodes.

They already had a little bit of a crossover when they showed the Dixon drug stash.

That's my thinking.  The reason they want to do a prequel likely has little to do with Saul's fate after the end of the show so much as all the other interesting characters which have met their end in Breaking Bad.  Mike is definitely a character people would like to see again.

Also, I want to know how the hell Saul acquired Hewell.  It seems like there's a crazy story in there.

Did we read the same article?  He clearly brought up the possibility of it being a prequel to avoid spoilers, specifically the fate of Saul.  He said as much.

Gilligan has said in interviews that Saul will survive the final season (being like a cockroach who survives a nuclear blast), so chances are good a prequel would be a chance to bring back characters who didn't make it, like Mike or Gus.

I share the skepticism that Saul can't carry a series, though.

Either that or they want to be able to bring back Jonathan Banks as Mike.

Temple of Doom was technically a prequel and I liked that. But that's being pedantic, it was only set a year before to avoid conflicting with world events, it didn't explain a character's back story or anything. Although Indy was more of a prick in movie than the others.

If I was 12 years old, thought I was going to be a rock star for playing Darth Vader, had a vaguely flirtatious scene with Natalie Portman but (probably) never got with her and was ripped apart by every loser on the internet, I'd be an asshole too.

On the other hand, maybe they're announcing it as a possible prequel so that it's keeps alive the possibility that he'll be killed.  After all, if you say it's a post-BB spinoff, then you know he lives.
