Lightning struck a few feet in front of me about an hour ago. I'm still not sure how I didn't go blind, how my car's electrical whatevers didn't get fried, how I didn't go deaf, how I could still pay attention with my heart jumping out of my chest for the next few minutes...

Survived a lightning strike at age eight, with no permanent damage?  That kid is going to be a serious badass when he grows up.

He has superpowers now. He just has to learn how to use them.

Good for him. I wonder if he has any memory of being struck at all.

But I didn't care for this at all:

"He was just a few feet from his dad and other family members when, without any rain or clouds in the sky, he was struck."

I had to look at the photo twice to realize he hadn't also lost an arm. Thought subby was being cruel.

What was that TV show about the guy with electrical powers and had a watch to keep track of how much power he had left before needing to recharge? From about 30 or so years ago. Google and IMDB are failing me.

Look at his grin in the article's photo. He appears to be getting a charge out of the whole situation.

Well before those, I remember their names. Damn vague childhood memory, something about a nuclear power plant and his mother I think, and he had a personal electrical charge he could use, but if it got too low he'd die. Might have been a TV movie/attempted pilot or some such.

I've seen that, both from a distance and too damn close.

/The distance one was a purple lightning bolt shooting across most of the visible sky to a radio antenna. Looked like an almost straight purple particle beam or something
