I can see the spas position on this it was a training class for a procedure the person was going to have to give how else are you going to learn how to do it other then on other members of the class. if you are so uptight that you won't get one how can they expect you to not freak out when haveing to do them for paying customers

"She was asked to expose her most private parts to her co-workers, to their view and their touch, and to have the physical view of her genitals altered," said Janice Russell, Finley's attorney.  "And she did not feel that that was legal."

I see that when something bad happens, you're supposed to immediately go to a news station.  Gotcha.

The next time my bartender takes too long to pour me drink;  off to Action 2 News!

I was thinking she could learn from another co-worker when a customer would ask for one.  Observe and take pictures notes.

If it's a condition of employment, there's probably not much she can do about it.  Granted, it's a little strange at shift change here at the car wash.  But it's not like it's a give-without-getting thing here.

I don't think any form of concealer would last very long.* Bleaching is probably the longer-lasting option.

I think she has a valid lawsuit. You can't force your employees to be Ginnie Pigs any more than a medical school can require a med student to be used for sticking needles in their veins. That's what volunteers are for. Free waxing if you agree to trainees being the ones to do it.

While I see that point, I also feel that a service employee should understand what the experience is like on the other side of the chair/table/wax strip.

If she was so worked up about exposing herself to coworkers I, as an employer, wouldn't want to put her in front of customers.

Unless you are a porn actress or a stripper, there is no valid reason for your employer to require you to show your genitals to your coworkers. None, Nada, Nil.

To be fair, many med schools do require students practice hitting veins on each other before they're allowed to do the same on patients.

I think there's a difference between "damn I have to wear a nice comfortable polo shirt to work today" and "I have to get all my pubic hair ripped out by my fellow employees who will also put their hands in my crotch
today to keep my job".

Just a bit.

It must be 100% voluntary. It can not be a requirement. I've let hospital labs take blood from me when they needed a sample to test their coag machines, they ask very nicely.

Look, I understand you're stressing out about genital exposure, but I hear that manscaping can in fact make it appear more impressive.

Lots of things in medical school were "voluntary," which was to say "either you do this, or we'll ensure you never become a doctor."  This one was more like "you won't be allowed to touch a patient until you do this."  I found the number of employment laws broken on a daily basis in medical school/residency to be astonishing.

So how are male obstetricians trained? Or male plastic surgeons that do breast implants and reconstruction? Or female urologists? Or either sex ophthalmologist? Do they strap them to a table and let their fellow students go at their eyeballs with sharp blades?
Valid suit, as I would bet that nowhere in the job description was a requirement that the employee go through the same procedure as the customer.
Besides, some women like looking like adults below the waist, and want to keep it that way. It should be their choice, not their employer's.

Someone cite me the law that was broken. Neither the 'victim', her attorney, nor the reporter has mentioned it, merely saying "And she did not feel that that was legal....I felt what they were doing was illegal. It was very embarrassing."

Is it just the pain issue?  If so, then when and if I ever get drafted to the NFL I will run to the courts if, God forbid, someone ever tackled and bruised me. Embarrassment?  Guess I get to sue my parents for everything they may have done to me (like appearing in public) when I was a teen.  Grow up!

If it's a right to work state than she should stfu or look for other employment.
