They reported rape 40 times?

Just think of it as a Biblical times reality tour.

A good friend of mine went to Egypt last year, her second time there and she said it was just not what it once was.  Cairo was basically on lockdown, pyramids were out of the question.  I'm sure it's only gotten worse since then.  Which really has got to suck for them, I'd imagine the last remaining wonder of the ancient world would have tourism pretty high on their list of income potential.

I like whips and chains and forced labor.  But I digress.

A good friend of mine just became an Egyptian citizen, she has no real plans to visit any time soon.

Umm is that one of those things like a flag of convenience?  Like when you take a cruise out of Miami but the ship flies the flag of Liberia?

She married an Egyptian.

My company needs to find better places for our support centers.  Colorado Springs is on fire.  Orlando has hurricanes.  Cairo has revolutions.  The Mumbai center is a disaster all on its own.

A British friend of mine visited last year with her son, and she loved it but it sounds like the hassle has gotten unbelievable for women.  She was conservatively dressed and had her 11 year old kid there, yet you'd basically have random men shouting and harassing you all day.

My family visited Egypt when I was 13 and even then it was mildly freaky at that age how every vendor would tell my dad how hawt I was and what not, so I can only imagine.

Pity as I'm Europe-based now and would love to scuba dive the Red Sea, but guess that's not happening anytime soon...

Ah, ok that makes sense then.

My company banned travel there on 6-27.

It's wasn't safe then, and now its about to become a warzone.

I'd still go if I got a good deal but then I'm male and have been to worst places.

I have a friend who works for US State Department, his response last month when I asked if if it was wise to take a flight with a layover in Cairo.  Egypt is so unstable right now, I wouldn't do with an armed detachment of Marines.

You can probably get a direct flight to Sharm Al-Sheik and avoid all the Cairo nonsense.  There aren't enough Egyptians in Sharm to riot, and they are all busy working anyway.

/dove Sharm in 96. Awesome stuff, didn't need to go below 70 ft so lots of dive time.

I love grapes.

OH, RAPE... I guess that's kind of bad.

/40 rapes reported. So you mean 40 whores and sluts who admitted to sullying men with their feminine wiles.

We need a revolution.... lets go rape some chick that helps.

Reasons we need fences around some countries.

I confess. We were wrong. The left and obama were right. The islamic brotherhood would bring order* to the region.

This is much better than things were before.

I don't think that would be that much of a problem. The ruckus is in Cairo, not the Sinai Peninsula. And you can always get to Sinai through Israel.

I wish our government would stop sending our money there.

Fortunately for for the rest of us, many of the worlds issues don't hinge on your partisan asshackery.

I lived in Egypt, I am speaking from experience.

Even if her husband is cool as shiat (and I know of a few who have doen 180's after marrying foreign girls and getting them in Egypt) if she married a muslim she is going to get shiat in many places there unless she decided to cover up, although I guess if she already feels it is sinful to go out with her hair not bundled up that is less of a big deal.

2013-07-03 10:19:28 AM
Cum for the rapes, stay because you are dead.

2013-07-03 10:19:46 AM
Does it seem weird to anyone else that when Egypt looks like it's on the verge of war, we run news articles about how this might affect our vacation plans?

Forty rapes? That's as many as four tens, and that's terrible!

He's a lapsed Muslim and has dual citizenship with no intention of moving back to Egypt/middle east any time soon.

Probably becasue he shares my attitude, just doesn't speak as openly.

Still sounds safer than Mexico.

An acquaintance of mine was on one of the last flights out of Cairo last time around.  It was crazy watching the news then reading his "went to the museum today" check-in.

It's CNN if you turn them on right now they are covering the Zimmerman trial with a small "Egypt Ultimatum Cam" shot in the lower left hand corner.

/Ted please buy CNN back and fix this shiat.

To keep things in perspective, 23 deaths, 780 injured and 40 rapes would be a slow month in some of our inner cities.

If you do go, be sure to check out the Pizza Hut right across from the great pyramid at Giza!

Really. I'm much more concerned about how this is going to affect the price of my sheets. I will not go back to sleeping on American cotton.

You won't leave with your head.
