Minor breakdown in complex system discovered and fixed before anyone got hurt. Not only is it not news, it's not even Fark worthy.

Every children's water park is a sewage plant.

"The backup resulted from a failed pump that tripped a circuit breaker at an Open Space pump station. The tripped circuit also knocked out a pump failure alarm. "

That's some fine electrical work there, Lou.

I do a lot of engineering work for the W/WW industry (I'm getting a kick...) and I'd have to agree. There are reasonably priced safeguards and redundancies to prevent this sort of thing. Someone farked up in a major way cutting corners.

Who would have thought that an alarm would need to operate under such conditions?

The last time I went to a water park, I watched the little boys sitting down right over the water jets. That water was giving them a nice little colonic, and we were all splashing around in their shiat water. There is not enough Clorox.

Surprise, surprise, a short while later the park was closed due to a shiat-borne disease outbreak. Fortunately, me and mine were not infected.

Yuck, yuck, yuck....

I'm surprised they are going to start treating it.

The pump and the pump alarm being on the same circuit it definitely a tick in the Fark column. .

They're pretty darn lucky it didn't happen a week later. Cherry festival, biatches.

Not entirely related, but in a similar vein, it's f--king amazing and depressing how many cities in this state still combine sewage and storm drains.  Especially the ones with Great Lake + connecting river/lake shoreline.

/wonder how much sewage overflow there has been this week with the torrential rain we've been having
//don't really want to think about it

The B-word responsible for this should be taken to the C-ward. Or at least the C-word who did this should be taken to the B-ward.

Walking through the local park the other day, the fiance and I took in the sights of children and animals playing in the fountain.

The fountain full of sewage wash-off. I can't count on two hands the number who likely went home feeling sick.
