(Sporting News)   Yeah. tournament down in Florida. I left my gun in my carry-on. Damned TSA Agent just POPPED up, cut me down on my prime. He got my Glock, but I tore one of that bastard's eyes out though   ( sportingnews.com) divider line

Blanks?

He told deputies that he forgot to take the gun out of his bag after returning home from a trip the week before

How big of a dumbass do you have to be to 'forget' you brought a loaded gun on your carry on bag?

and does not have a concealed weapons permit.

And he shoots for a living. Golf, but still it opens the door for some puns.

Blanks has missed most of the 2013 season due to a shoulder injury.

That's some funny shiat right there... maybe he should take up soccer.

I thought the same thing. I might have gone with "Golfer carrying gun through airport almost finds that TSA agents occasionally shoot Blanks"

All of these "I forgot I had it" things about guns raises an important question.  How useful is it going to be, in case you are in fear of your life, if you can't remember where the damned thing is?  Leave aside the safety issue.  Why are you wasting your money on a weapon, since you have no chance of laying your hands on it if and when you need it?

Why would you leave any gun loaded?

2013-07-02 12:41:15 PM
Seriously, how the hell does this even happen?  Maybe I'm paranoid, but I like to know exactly where my guns are when they are not being stored away.

2013-07-02 12:50:34 PM
If you can't recall exactly where all your firearms are you have too many firearms. Now go put your toys away little boy.

Blanks' loaded gun misses cut at TSA Open.

Criminals won't show proper etiquette and allow you to load your gun when they break into your house?

I typically just keep the clip loaded and out of the gun. But to each their own.

FOAF works with TSA. He told us once that the reason everyone "forgets" they had their gun with them is that intentionally trying to go through security with the gun is a crime, while bring it inadvertently is not.

Hence the, "Gee golly-willickers Mr. TSA, I din't know that was there at all!"

It doesn't take that long to slap a magazine into a gun. If you cannot due that reliably due to panic, then you probably shouldn't be trying to use the weapon.

I not trying to perpetuate any stereotypes but maybe he had the gun to protect himself from some of the folks he met there.

And if you really don't have the time to do it, then you're probably dead before you can grab it anyway.

I keep my 1911 loaded at all times.  Has three safeties: thumb safety, dovetail grip safety, and the trigger.  The problem with guns in general is that most people are naive about the laws, including this guy.  All the guys w/o a concealed permit that carry a concealed weapon makes it hard on us law abiding gun owners.

I guess that's why all cops and soldiers carry their weapons unloaded...

He wasn't "carrying" it, it was in his bag.

They don't have 'em loaded when they're not on their person.

Seems to me guns are like elected offices. The more a person is drawn to wanting one, the more I want that person as far away from it as possible.

No one has made an actual clip-fed firearm since what, the Garand?  It's no longer a useful distinction.

Because an empty gun is a three-pound rock. An "empty" gun will be disrespected. Treat all guns as if they are loaded, and you won't go wrong.
