Mangoose: 2) Why is this asinine?
russlar: the terrorists won.
Zulu_as_Kono: Theaetetus: Considering that the ones declaring defeat are cringing from the police and state authorities, not terrorists, it sounds more like you're the asshole. What the f*ck are you trying to say? I'm talking about the losers in this thread who are all "the terrorists have won", and just over-reacting in general. "Police and state authorities". Please.
Zulu_as_Kono: Some Bostonians are wondering if it's worth celebrating freedom and strength on the 4th while also abiding by strict post-Marathon security measuresThe vast majority of us are doing just fine, thanks. Unlike the snivelling weenies in this thread, feeling all defeated and vexed on our behalves.Go screw yourselves, seriously.
Zulu_as_Kono: The My Little Pony Killer: The only 'sniveling weenie' in this story is the idiot who decided that a full-on ban on fun would somehow create safety. You're a goddamned moron. The My Little Pony Killer: Once again, the only thing wetting their bed here is the city of Boston. Please try to pay attention before twisting up your panties. We're fine, but thanks for your totally-uninformed concern. The My Little Pony Killer: Right. It's EVERYBODY ELSE who is the stupid. Uh huh.Maybe not everyone, but you, for sure.robbiex0r: I can tell you that on any day, holiday or not, I am much more afraid of running afoul of my police and state authorities than I am of being involved in a terrorist incident.Good for you.Vitamin Pb: Hey, cool! Free cavity searches!Over-react much? Douchebag.
Zulu_as_Kono: enemy of the state: The fact that a few people posting here are saying it's no big deal, or that it's even justified are a good indication that the Big Brother idea of Newspeak and pounding lies into the proles' heads is working pretty well.Yeah, whatever you say, Eric.
Zulu_as_Kono: Theaetetus: Zulu_as_Kono: Theaetetus: Considering that the ones declaring defeat are cringing from the police and state authorities, not terrorists, it sounds more like you're the asshole. What the f*ck are you trying to say? I'm talking about the losers in this thread who are all "the terrorists have won", and just over-reacting in general. "Police and state authorities". Please. When people say "the terrorists have won", they're referring to the fact that, with a tiny attack, our government will spend millions upon millions of dollars and will strip away our rights in the name of security theater. It's not saying "zomg terrorists" as you apparently think.I'm no fan of security theater, as you rightly call it. But are you saying that increased security at this year's fourth is somehow unreasonable? And are you really saying that having to bring liquids in clear bottles in order to go to the Esplanade is somehow an assault on some fundamental freedom?
Mangoose: 1) DRTFA2) Why is this asinine?
Zulu_as_Kono: Gunny Highway: I have not heard one person talk about not celebrating the 4th. The Hatch Shell and the surrounding area can be pretty crazy though so if there was more security I wouldnt be offended.Doesn't it warm your heart thought that all these cringing assholes can declare defeat on our behalves? I know I'm going to be having a great time and watching the fireworks from the same spot as every year, no problems. I guess that doesn't fit their apocolyptic paranoid narrative, though.
DoBeDoBeDo: IrateShadow: Can we stop with the liquid bans already? It's a farking stupid security measure that's based on the plot from Die Hard 3.You do realize there are entire departments within the government out to stop the guys from "Live Free or Die Hard".........yeah really.
Mangoose [TotalFark]2013-07-02 09:51:07 AM1) DRTFA2) Why is this asinine?
The My Little Pony Killer: Wow, it's really really sad that Boston is allowing themselves to remain terrorized.
Zulu_as_Kono: Theaetetus: The real enemy they're targeting - people who won't pay $20 for a beer and a hot dog.Again - the type of folks who go to this thing? F*ck 'em. Let them get overcharged. None of this will affect me or anyone I know in any way whatsoever.
Zulu_as_Kono: jshine: Not sure where the hostility comes from, but did you actually read TFAYeah, I get the Globe every morning. And I know the area where the restrictions are in force and it's tiny and you couldn't pay me enough to go there. The rest of you assholes just don't know what you're talking about. That's where the hostility comes from.
Zulu_as_Kono: I'm no fan of security theater, as you rightly call it. But are you saying that increased security at this year's fourth is somehow unreasonable?
Zulu_as_Kono: BunkoSquad: I guess everyone has their own definition of "sniveling weenies". Anyone who feels "well, they can do whatever they need to do to me to keep me feeling safe" fits my bill, but hey, freedom to interpret it your own way.Yeah, I don't see going through security in order to attend a free outdoor event within an enclosed area as a great affront to my liberty. But maybe I'm more robust than you.
what_now: Actually, I'm really really pissed about this. We're celebrating a group of people who overthrew the British Army, and we're doing it while cowering from two morons with a pressure cooker.
Zulu_as_Kono: Yeah, I don't see going through security in order to attend a free outdoor event within an enclosed area as a great affront to my liberty. But maybe I'm more robust than you.
illegal.tender: I'm not doing any July 4 celebrations this year. Gotten pretty disenchanted with my country since the whole NSA thing."A watched man is not a free man."
Zulu_as_Kono: The vast majority of us are doing just fine, thanks. Unlike the snivelling weenies in this thread, feeling all defeated and vexed on our behalves.
TheSelphie: The farkbags are closing major roadways the day BEFORE. The ride home is going to be a disaster tomorrow.
StoPPeRmobile: We are being spent into the ground. It worked on the Soviets.
soopey: Challenge accepted.
meat0918: Burn a flag. What symbolizes American freedom more than the ability to destroy one of the most visible symbols of our country without governmental repercussions?
FarkinHostile: I'd sooner snort draino than be in Boston for the 4th.
