Not showing up for the games isn't the same as disowning the team. Frankly, if all my team's stars were on the DL I'd hesitate at going to a game, or at least wait until a good team was in town to play against them.

I'm going with friends in two weeks. Is it better to buy cheap seats now or day of at the park? I've always bought before for that stadium

Come on, people! Zoilo Almonte!

It could be fewer stars. Or it could be that tickets cost $40, parking is $36, tolls into the city cost $12, beer is $10, a hotdog is $7, a bag of peanuts is $5.50, a water is $5. So a family of four would pay would pay $287 for 4 tickets, parking, tolls, 4 hotdogs, two beers, two bags of peanuts, and 4 waters.

So a minimum of $300 dollars to watch a mediocre team.

Or just bring food/water in with you and use mass transit.

I went to the new stadium for the first time a few weeks ago, so I've more than done my part.

Spent about $40 per ticket for seats that weren't bad.  Took mass transit, brought beverages from home, which they were somewhat lax about - overall didn't spend an arm and a leg, though I could see how I easily could have if I'd had money to blow.

Overpriced tickets will do that to ya.

My favorite early-season description of the Yankee roster was "aka your 2008 Rotisserie team." I forget who  wrote that.

Things are getting desperate.  Now they're trying to trade their two can't miss Hall-of-Famers, Hughes and Chamberlain, for the bats that will put them back in the World Series.

Hughes never really blossomed into much more than a middling, serviceable starter and occasional fireman.
Joba was overrated from the get-go and has been a fat sack of fail this year. The only reliever on the staff that makes me angrier is Lefty Specialisttm Boone Logan.

Well, Valverde would be hateable just for all his machinations (like Ferndano Rodney.. I just wanna punch that guy), even if he didn't suck.
Boone Logan sucks, but as least he quietly sucks.

My Yankee fan friends groan normally at a couple things: when they find out its a Hughes start, Boone coming in during a close game, and Michael Kay talking about (well anything) RISP.

Loudest is probably Hughes starts

Why does LA hate Ian Kennedy?

Search why he got a 10 game suspension. Factual details are kind of hard considering how MLB, dodger fans, and fans of assault see the incident

He got in a throwing-at-batters-heads match with Greinke and won.

So I think I had my scale right. He could allow two ER, load the bases, have a 3-0 count and he would still do that damn thing if the next pitch resulted in a pop fly.

Oh that.   Got the impression you thought Kennedy was with LA.

Man, the Twins are one of the best slumpbusters ever!

/Too bad the Rays are playing the Astros, which barely count as a professional baseball team

Yup, you nailed it.  Though you don't have to be a Detroit fan to hate Valverde, but if you're not a Yankee fan, you probably don't give a hoot about Logan.
