I think they should host the Olympics, look how well it worked for Sarajevo!

2013-07-01 05:43:48 PM
Tulsa is a pretty nice town, but it's not ready for an Olympics nice.

2013-07-01 06:05:14 PM
If there is one thing "Real America" hates, it's foreigners. I don't think they thought their cunning plan through.

Tulsa is a shiathole and America would be better off if the ground opened up and swallowed it.  Take the rest of Oklahoma while you're at it.

2013-07-01 06:11:56 PM
oh good god we can barely pull off the PGA!!

oh please tell me this is just a stunt and we are not going to spend a dime trying to make this happen!!

2013-07-01 06:21:32 PM
The only people who make money off the Olympics are the IOC.

2013-07-01 06:26:51 PM
The 500 meter tornado dodge should be a big hit

Leave the college towns. And I'll keep Peace of Mind bookstore and Starship Records from Tulsa, thanks.

Is it even legal for foreigners to visit Tulsa?

No problem, we'll just relocate them across the border to Fayetteville.  The rez can stay too, we've farked with those people enough.  Sorry Rest Of Oklahoma, it's into a sinkhole with you.

If Chicago wasn't corrupt enough to get an olympics, there's no way in hell Tulsa would pull it off.

/unless they have some stash of high-class hookers I didn't know about
//no, trailer spawn looking for extra meth money doesn't count

I want to see them put on a real endurance trial. Hold the Olympics in Phoenix in 2024. The heat waves should yield 125 to 126 degree temps by then.

Given that these are the extremes of opinion in this thread I'm gonna go ahead and split the difference and just say that Tulsa sucks ass.

A buddy and I were talking about this after London's games finished up last year. We decided that the only true obstacles to a Phoenix Olympics would be the heat (unless you can start them in mid-September or early May, when it's a tad more bearable) and the fact that our public transportation sucks balls.

Good Lord where would they put everyone? They'd damn near just have to use Stillwater as the Olympic Village.

Where are the extra 30000 hotel rooms going to come from, and what would they ever use them for after the games?

To be fair, Atlanta was a WTF choice in 1990 for the 1996 games, no different than Tulsa today.

It's about 26.2 miles from Saguaro Lake to Riverview (Loop 202 & Dobson).  That'd be a fun marathon!

Calling yourself real America is kind of a dick move since it implies other cities aren't real America.

We tried giving the Olympics to the "real America" in 1996.

We're still paying for the damages internationally. There's a reason the summer Olympics haven't been back since.
