The Bible got a sequel: The New Testament. Lots of people complained it was gratuitously inconsistent with the original. But it was the biggest hit in the history of big hits.

So would that be "The Koran"  or are they going to just jump ahead and do "the Book of Mormon"? or maybe combine the two so they can turn this thing into a trilogy?

They will never make a Koran (Quran, Qur'an) , mini-series.   The first time they show Mohammed there will be blood.  And it's a shame.  Americans can probably learn a lot about their fellow Abrahamic religions by simplified TV shows.

They could use the old device from "Home Improvement" and have Mohammed as a character but never let you actually see him.   Shoot the whole thing so that his voice is always coming from just outside the shot

Let me guess.

This time, Jesus is bald, drinks tea, and tries to be diplomatic, St. Peter bangs Mary Magdalene, Judas is blind and wears some stupid-looking Kanye sunglasses, and Pontius Pilate is a good guy now and has some rubber doo-hickeys glued to his forehead.

I thought I was watching The Bible one day, but it was actually just Vikings with a countdown for the new episode of The Bible later that night in the corner of the screen.  It was confusing as shiat for a few minutes.  I was seriously thinking about giving that Bible book a glance over.

I think even having someone portray the voice of Mohammed off camera would still get a certain element into a head-choppy mood.

This is my favorite thread of the day.

Does part three have Jesus saving his father from Nazis and getting back a cup he lost one day, going back (technically forward in time) to the old west to rescue Moses or does it involve Ewoks?  I prefer the 1st one but would settle for the 3rd option too.

When History was doing a show about the history of Islam they made sure to point out that they were not depicting Mohammed in any way shape or form over and over. I'm suprised they didnt have a crawler at the bottom saying it as well.

I was under the impression visual images of Mohammed weren't really verboten except in the minds of some of the lunatics? Isn't he depicted in the statues at the Supreme Court, etc?

Worse - they're likely to just dive into all of the post-Jesus consternation.  Lots of Paul being a judgmental asshole and screwing up everything for the rest of his life.

I wonder if they're going to include the development of New Testament Canon when early church fathers like Irenaeus and Origen literally edited out and destroyed a number of "gospels" which were being in use at the time in favor of the 4 canonical gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) plus some of the writings of early church leaders.

2013-07-01 07:38:39 PM
Gospel of Mary Magdalene?
Gospel of Judas?

Something tells me they won't be considered such as they weren't considered for canon.
