WTF Indeed: Smoking causes a variety of cancers. Cancer is very expensive to treat. Insurance companies have to pay for cancer treatments. Companies pay a portion of the insurance packages for their employees. Therefore, smoking causes billions of dollars of extra corporate costs every year.  So does obesity.

Smokers generally die faster and cheaper than other people. Not much treatment gets done on a lung full of black.

Smokers probably *save* insurance companies money.

Life is like that.

Color me interested.  I tried the 510's a while back, and they were great, but messy and problematic.

Any links on hand?

Was this based on a study by the Pulling Random Numbers Out Of Our Asses Institute?

No, they cost everyone brazillions of dollars.   Them, and fat people, and assholes that catch cancer.

The Muthaship: Stoj: FTFA:  "I want to know, why are you smoking?", said Dulichand. "What are the stressful pieces of your life that smoking is kind of the crutch for?"

This person is an idiot.  She's a "tobacco treatment counselor"?  Hahaha....

Her: "What is stressing you out so much that you have to smoke?"

Me: "Nothing.  My life is awesome.  I have a beautiful wife, two boys that are straight from Heaven, more than enough money - I never thought I'd be as happy as I am now."

Her:  "But... smoking is a crutch... I'm pretty sure.  Why.."

Me: "I like to smoke.  I enjoy it.  I'm sure there is an addiction component to it but I truly just like doing it."

Her: "But... stress?  You're stressed!"

I quit almost 3 years ago.  And I'm glad I did, as I feel better in lots of ways.  But dammit, I DID enjoy smoking!  It wasn't just for stress relief.

5 years for me and I'm with you two. I enjoyed smoking.

And since I'm former smoker, it will be a smoking related death if I get hit by a bus.

I got jealous of all the smoke breaks my boss took so now I fark.

It was that or go for the office masturbation record.

LittleSmitty: The company I work for was recently bought out. The new owners have a zero tobacco policy and it went into effect yesterday. I don't give a crap if people smoke. I did once myself. However, the lost productivity from some smokers is awful. Since I have to provide breaks to some of the people on my press, it pisses me of when the smokers can't seem to get back in the allotted 15 minutes. One guy told me he didn't look at the clock, it took about 15 minutes to smoke a cig, and he came back when he was done.

WordyGrrl: /Smoker. I have no idea why non-smokers don't take a 10-minute break twice a day to leave the office, walk around in the fresh air and sunshine, etc

This is what really pisses me off. Everyone else in my group smokes, I don't. And not just one or two cigs a day, lets be honest with ourselves here.  They go out for 10-15 minutes every 2 hours for a ten hour work day.  Which we'll say averages out to about 12 minutes 5 times a day. So an hour a day, they spend outside just farking around and shooting the shiat. So minus the standard (and only) eight federal holidays we get, They collectively spend 200 hours farking off.

I tried to argue that since I didn't smoke, or take smoke breaks, I was entitled to another twenty vacation days a year, since I didn't waste that time.  Not to mention the 5-10 minutes it can take to walk somewhere where you're  allowed to smoke here.   Seriously. It's like they waste thirty goddamn minutes every time they need to go smoke, every other hour. And if they can't because we're busy, I have to deal with them being dicks about it.

It's not my fault you're addicted to cigarettes.  I like to sleep, but I don't get to take fifteen minutes naps every two hours, no matter how 'refreshed' I would feel, even if I felt compelled to.

PrivateCaboose: So if you make people take physicals as part of their jobs, how many people are going to start lying to their doctor?

Doctors can identify that you're a smoker. If you claim you don't smoke but do, it is not a big stretch to presume insurance companies will start denying claims.  They're looking for reasons to collect your premiums, only to reject your claim.

One on the left is a Sigelei Vmax v3 (ignore that price listed, you can find them MUCH cheaper if you hunt around and buy the batteries separately) with an RSST rebuildable atomizer. The one on the right is a Vamo with only an 18350 battery, so it's much shorter, and an AGI atomizer. I've NEVER had any issues with being messy, in particular with the RSST. Since its tank is a separate piece, if you use steel mesh wicks, you never have to worry about causing a short.

At this point I've gotten down to only 6mg nicotine in these things, and if I can keep on track the way I am, I'll be able to completely give up on it altogether by the fall. Mind you, this is after being a pack / pack and a half smoker for 30 years. I dunno though, I may keep using them even after I do away with nicotine altogether in the liquid. It's quite enjoyable, and I love to tinker.

Giltric: Well we could be forcing insurance companies to pay for Chantix in order to get people off tobacco products and make people healthier considering smoking related illnesses are the leading cause of death and sickness in the US which probably means it is the largest healthcare cost the country faces....

But instead the left throws all its political capital behind forcing insurance companies to pay for womens birth control making sure people like Sandra Fluke can be promiscuous.

Are you a doctor?  Do you really think it's a good idea to put all smokers on Chantix which as best as I can tell leads to psychosis in a not insignificant number of users?

Thanks a bunch.
I tinker as well.  I had quit smoking cold turkey for 2 weeks. And only had an occasional real smoke for after meals after that.

My problem was the tasty juices I had bought ran low and I had trouble finding ones as good, trial and error...mostly error..through internet purchasing ran me dry and I gave up.

what juices do you use?  I'm partial to sweet flavors, blueberry(like a good muffin, not cheap koolaid), lemon, cherry, and a chocolate were the one's I'd tried and could never quite find again.(the good samples I had were sorta spendy almost on par with smoking)

Nana's Vibrator: Fine, but when they all quit and stop having health problems, they're going to live longer.  And you'll be sorry, because there's nothing more obnoxious than an unapologetic jackoff who wants a cigarette but can't have one.

Actually I quit cigarettes and started using vapes, but--and maybe I'm an anomaly--I get sick about once every five years for about 3 days. When I was able to work, might have missed work one of those days...maybe. My father--who did die of cancer after he'd retired--never missed a day of work from being sick, nor did my mother, who also smoked (now retired and has kidney disease--genetic--and uterine cancer--also genetic, neither of which is caused by smoking, and my mother quit smoking about ten years ago). So, while I do not dispute the science that is 100% accurate in saying that smoking CAN cause cancer and various diseases and smoking CAN cause people to be sicker more often, that isn't necessarily the case for everyone.

Been off cigarettes for about 4 months now (high quality e-cigs/vaporators with the liquid--not the kind you buy at Walmart are cheaper, taste better, and don't leave you smelling like smoke) and actually have more trouble with allergies and seasonal flus than I did when I smoked. Even got a nasty sinus infection about a month after I started the vapes--but it'd been about 6 years and I was due for one.

Sounds like you should take a non-smoke break, go outside, walk around and get rid of some of that stress.

Damn, I'd love to see what'd happen if workplaces forced everyone to quit smoking and take Chantix.  There'd be hourly machete fights.

/Chantix is the devil.
