And once again, the conversation of gun violence is diluted, first by my side screaming about THEY TOOK ER GERNS...then by their side screaming ERMGERD ALL GUN ERNERS ER CRERZER!...then by the media amping the Hysteria to 11 with "ZERMAGERD KERDS URSING SQUIRT GERNS GERN VERLENCE!"

Seriously, all issues about gun control vs. gun ownership aside, how about we ramp down the hysterics and emotional masturbation on both sides of the fence and disconnect the death of people from the immediate need to classify it as violence X? Too many people die every day for us to fragment our efforts to stop violent behavior by attacking only the tools or the imagery and not the cancer that causes it.

/So sick and tired of the grandstanding over guns-this and violence-that, when not one goddamn person who claims to want to stop violence is adopting poor families in blighted neighborhoods and getting them out of their slums and into a better situation. Bloomberg -- you wanna stop violence? Find a way to give a better life to the people that turn to drugs, violence, and crime because they have no other options. Might make more of a difference than becoming a pseudofascist trying to control the behavior of others.
//You can't fight free will. No one will ever do as you say, no matter what. The only way to make a person change is make them WANT to change, and the only way you can make them WANT to change is by giving them options that appeal to them to become better people to achieve it.
///Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day -- then resents you because you didn't change his life, you just fed him once, and he now has to be dependent on you because he can't do shiat on his own. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime, and he'll be more prosperous because he learned something that he can then do himself and feel pride in. A man wants to be a better person and earn his keep and achieve his goals through his actions. Being given things only destroys the sense of pride and value a man takes in his achievements because he was never forced to work for them.

HypnozombieX:  I really hope subby is trying to be ironic or something given the current climate the only difference is that no one is likely killed or seriously wounded. The threat and intent is still very clear. Wonder if subby also sees cross burning as a simple act of arson with no other implications.

A couple months after Sandy Hook a local news station website ran in giant letters that there was a school shooting at an area school. It wasn't until you were most of the way through the second paragraph that they said it was a BB or Air Soft gun and no one was hurt.
So yes, in this climate that has been largely driven by the media and their need for you to watch and be terrified 24/7, we should consider every act of violence as someone trying to wipe out humanity.

boarch: dittybopper: I would point out that my sash, and the matching gaiters (not shown in the pic) are absolutely *FABULOUS*.   If it wasn't so cold when we hold those events, I'd wear assless chaps and a breechcloth.

that's really gay dood

Ah, here's a pic with the sash and gaiters:

schoolbread: dittybopper: Great Janitor: Having used a BB gun, Airsoft gun and an M-16, freaking out over a BB gun is silly.  The first two just feel like cheap toys compared to a real farking rifle.

Actually, all three feel like cheap toys compared to a real farkin' rifle:

Lolwut

Not sure if that is actually your pic, but if so the "Don't tread on me flag" is an especially nice touch.

Yes, it is.  My father built the rifle, and the knife (the handle of which is the antler from a deer I shot).

Here is a picture of my shooting that very same rifle:

If you look very closely, you'll the bag and horn are the same, and you can see the handle of the knife peeking up above the bag, right where my sash goes around my back.

Mugato: St. Pete is a hell hole. Not because of this, just in general.
