This isn't over yet, just wait until the prosecution starts presenting its case and calling witnesses.

The first witness today is the guy they tried to discredit with their own experts last week?

Well what can they do? There was never any evidence to begin with. This trial is only happening due to outrage by the ignorant populace.

Just walk in with some beers crack open a couple cold ones and toast the defense and say fark it

Maybe they should be a little less obvious that they are throwing the trial

Basically everyone the prosecution has called has laid the foundation for reasonable doubt, self defense and a waste of time and money for the state of florida

2013-07-01 09:16:51 AM
I'm pretty sure the defense lawyer was at maximum smug there "Absolutely none.  We encourage the use of this witness as an expert"

Pretty much.  See especially the testimony of John Good.  He pretty much makes the defense's case.

So far the prosecution's witnesses have been more effective for the defense.  This is nothing but a show trial.  If Zimmerman is guilty than Arias is innocent.  I hope the judge orders the prosecution to pay for Zimmerman's attorney fees.

Isn't Hirotako Nakasone the FBI expert who has already said he couldn't identify the voices on the recording? Why the hell would the prosecution call him? Doubt and uncertainty doesn't help them.

It really does look like they're trying to lose.

Worst case handling by a Florida DA since Casey Anthony

I really want to know how it works that two weeks ago they said this guy was not good enough now they are calling him an expert, unless they are gonna try to impeach their own witness again by getting Owen and Reich in

To try to throw shade on the notion that Zimmerman was the one yelling for help, even tho an eyewitness all but confirmed it.

Well, the trial has taught me is:

1. I can include my hispanic ass in the ranks of white people.

2. There are 19 year old high school seniors who cannot read or write cursive,  but evidently can speak three languages.

3. The media and the NAACP want a race war, but they want it between brown people, but one of the brown people was not brown enough.

4. The police were correct in not charging him in the first place.

Well, you do have to make at least one leap of common sense to arrive at that conclusion.  It's unlikely Martin was screaming "HELP!  I'm beating the hell out of this guy!  HELP!"

Yeah, should never have been prosecuted.  The only reason any of us have even heard of George Zimmerman is because this story was so wildly misreported in the beginning.  I remember reading right here on Fark how a neighborhood watch guy shot a black teen as he was unarmed and hiding under a car and I thought to myself "damn, that dude is going to get the needle and deservedly so".  Turns out it was MSNBC sensationalizing a story for page views.  By the time the truth finally got out there, it was too late.  The lynch mob had formed.  Reminds of a quote attributed to Winston Churchill

"A lie gets half way around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on".

I've given that some thought since the other time you mentioned it, and I think this case has been handled worse (procutorially anyway) that the Anthony case.

the prosecution is throwing the case. they didn't want to take it in the first place. they let their witnesses be badgered for hours on end answering the same question over and over without objection. they're taking one for the team on this one.

Friday my cable was messed up and all I could watch was msnbc, it is amazing how slanted it is in this case, maybe as someone pointed out because he is suing NBC?

The reactions on twitter this weekend to John Good were particularly interesting. Apparently, the reason people found Good a compelling witness and Jeantel a terrible one was RACISM.

Of course, some people thought Good was actively helping Zimmerman cover up murder:

I'm not entirely convinced the prosecution understands either their role in the trial or the law as it pertains to burden of proof.  Or maybe they're just hopeful that they can win on sheer number of witnesses.  iI can only assume that's why they called the T-Mobile guy.  They should also call a meteorologist to confirm that it was, in fact, raining. And a horticulturalist to confirm that the substance on the ground was grass.  If they can prove that Rachel Jeantel did hear wet grass, I'd find the rest of her testimony much more believable.

Has anyone seen Team Martin lately? It's almost like they figured out thier angel isn't one. The Martin's, Jessie Jackass, Al Nottosharpton, MSNBC etc need to be sued for the heck Zimmerman been thru. The almost got him lynched

Did anyone inform de la Rionda that his job is to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, not create reasonable doubt?

Right now I can see the jury's eyes glazing over. This Dr. Nakasone is speaking in all technical jargon without pause like he's talking to a room full of engineers. I don't know the background of the jurors, but I'm guessing they are not all voice and speaker recognition hobbyists with backgrounds in EE and signal processing.
