Have you ever seen what's left of a finger after a needle plunges through it?

Smarter than the cops, people.

Oh sure, when was the last time any of YOU saw a "sewing machine"?

Right because terrorists never use random objects to make bombs like say a pressure cooker. Boston Strong

If you can figure out a way to make a sewing machine into a bomb, more power to you. I prefer bomb material that's hollow on the inside, but that's just me.

It is kind of strange. My grandma loved her sewing as a hobby. She had a few machines and loved to use them. You could see the pride in her eyes when she made stuff for her grandkids.
I guess it's just one of those things that went away with the feminist movement.

Is the average citizen expected to know what can and cannot be made into a bomb? Maybe you should make one in your head. It's pretty hollow.

Yes and they also arrested the old woman that the sewibg machine belonged too. Turns out that she had yarn and two needles and homeland security thought she might try to knit an afghan....

They called the bomb squad to remove a Vietnamese woman?

It wasn't the sewing machine that drew attention, it was the little Chinese kid chained to it

/Just do sew it

Just having the sewing machine needle break the skin (and not actually go all the way through my finger) long, long ago was enough fun for me!  In terms of childhood memories, that one ranks right up there with "the time I caught my little finger in the car door".

Police said after examining the package it was determined that an old sewing machine was let in the area and officer cleared the scene.

So the area has a fence around it and someone let the machine roll through?

I have a fully functional Royal® typewriter from the 1930s..
That should send them into a blind panic.

Yes, and I've seen dozens of women be more man about it than you from my years of working at Levi's before they ditched the USA for Mexico.
