In the event of a water landing, YOU may be used as a flotation device.

I lived at the 79th street boat basin  for a while... every day was exciting.

Hua, I never knew helicopters had emergency inflatable pontoons.

Small airplanes have parachutes now, too.

Someone tell Sully to lay off, we know he has a huge penis floating on a sea of brass balls.

Infrastructure sure can be a biatch when the world moves on. I wonder what a water landing of a A380 would look like. Probably not very pretty. Pretty cracky, pretty fly aparty, pretty sinky quickly.

So is that helicopter flyable?

It looks flyable, but I read one report that said it had sunk at least up to the windscreen, which if true, I would assume means the chopper's avionics are probably totaled at the least.

Of course they are, these are standards nowadays. Also, I would say the pilot did a very good job because there was no need to utilize the helicopter's emergency periscopes.

What airplane was the one that was landed in the Hudson river a year/few years ago again?

Emergency landings are more common than people think, but surprisingly infrequent anyway.

Are you asking about the US Airways 1549 ditching in 2009? That was an A320

Not to threadjack, but concerning the article linked at the bottom regarding "Hollywoods six best sets of natural breasts": I'm in total agreement.

After several sight seeing helicopter accidents involving death, they became mandatory safety equipment

Could have been worse. He might have used the ejection seats.

Do they come with emergency pontoons as well?

You know, just in case?
