I'd give the odds of Ryan Miller staying put at the end of the day around 75%.

That and Darcy Regier will draft terribly for the Sabres.

I hadn't heard much in the way of Sabres rumours lately, where was Miller maybe going?

The Luongo/Schneider situation is the most dumbass trade talk the NHL has ever seen.

Mike Gillis should go down as the laughing stock of GMs in all NHL history. Let's review the timeline, shall we:

- says Luongo is "his guy"
- says Luongo is not "his guy"
- signs Schneider to big NHL money deal, BEFORE dealing Luongo
- can't come to terms with any team on trade deadline because of his ridiculous ask for Lou
- DOESN'T WIN 1 farkING GAME IN THE 2013 PLAYOFFS
- says that Schneider is now "on the block".

And now to turn the lens on myself and my sad sack Flames.

Feaster has three first round picks and a whole lotta cap room to spend. While I give him credit for finally turfing that useless piece of driftwood, Cory Sarich, this the day the Flames rebuild begins and I don't know if I want Feaster in that seat making those decisions.

I predict at least one free agent signing that will make Flames fans cringe.

Sounds like Letang is getting a better offer from the Pens* But Alex Edler might now be in play from Vancouver...

*Where is all the magical cap space coming from in Pittsburgh?

Will subby figure out that at least the Nucks apostrophe, if not the Avs one too, are completely superfluous?

Maybe Calgary is a 'quiet enough' town for Lecavalier lottery?

TSN confirms Letang and the Pens have come to an agreement of $58M over 8 years. A WHOPPING $250k/yr more than what he turned down the other day.

Then why did he turn down the $56M the other day?

No, he's officially gone from regular butthurt to Sasha-Grey-level butthurt. You'd never think the Red Wings blew a 3 games to 1 lead or anything...

Let's be grateful for what makes the draft special. It is that rare item in which hockey ranks as the third-most relevant sport, because I can't think of even a diehard fan who gives two shiats about the baseball draft.

With my beloved Ducks drafting 26th for the 1st & 45th overall in the 2nd I'm not expecting huge things this year. Lightning may strike but I'm not really expecting it. I think my time would be better off today spent cleaning out the garage than keeping an eye on whose going to be on the team in a few years. I know that it's supposed to be a fairly deep draft year but I don't think it's going to be that deep.... although a similar bunch of selections on the 10th anniversary of the greatest draft year ever would be fun.

Any rumours of the Ducks trying to trade up? Or maybe grab a free agent in a few days?

sno man: Any rumours of the Ducks trying to trade up? Or maybe grab a free agent in a few days?

I don't know. They already have traded away their 4th & 7th round picks so there's not a whole lot to work with with just this year's picks. And realistically 26th & 45th really aren't all that different so I don't see them trying to improve on the 2nd pick. Free agents are always a possibility but I'm not sure who they would go after that would be a decent fit with the team that is already there. Frankly I think that this year will be one for them to see what/who they can get & then let him develop & see where it goes from there. I really don't expect much action from Anaheim with the draft this year (wheeling & dealing wise anyway).

The other question: is this the last time we refer to the Phoenix Coyotes under that name? Tuesday night we'll know if they're staying or going.

But don't ask me to explain the reports last night about Mike Smith nearing a 6 yr contract with the Coyotes. I don't know if that's a good sign for the team staying or not.

Yeah, but at what cost? In return you get O'Brien, who might make you miss Sarich, and Jones, who was headed towards a compliance buy-out.

Doubt Florida or Tampa are willing or able to meet Colorado's asking price for the first, so I expect them to take MacKinnon. Florida then takes Barkov, while Tampa picks up Drouin. Nashville gets offered the moon for 4th and Jones, trades that pick.

Here's hoping for you that the guys at Renaissance heard your idea about Scottsdale!
Yea dunno about the Smith deal... especially with Bobrovski in play and wanting only $300k more give or take

If the Bruins can get a top 10 pick for Seguin, they should make the trade. Anything lower wouldn't be worth it.

My best guess on Smith signing now is that he or his agent had knowledge that no other team was willing to give him anything close to what the Coyotes were willing to give.

Of course, if weather conditions played a role in his decision; he should be declared legally insane. 119 farking degrees here the last 2 days!

Probably closer to 95% Darcy is going to ask for way too much nobody is going to pay what hes going to ask for.

My guess is that it will be like the NFL Draft:

-Team 1 picks
-Team 2 gets told of the pick before its announced publicly

No offense to MacKinnon, but the Avs are fools for not drafting Jones. They need D more than anything.

Kind of sucks that they couldn't go with the local boy Seth Jones, but they have needs and Jones doesn't fit those needs.

Nathan's girlfriend has some big ass tittays.

Miss MacKinnon just went first in my draft.
