You never know when terrorists will invade Leesburg. It's such a hub of excitement there.Especially all the antique malls there.

Hmmm... Makes me wonder if they're American or if they were Soviet/Iraqi brought home as war trophies. The M-72 doesn't look like a whole lot when it's packed for shipping, and even the AT4's round doesn't protrude. The Russian designs on the other hand...

It sounds like she found actual ordinance.

/How come the only thing I find in the back of the shed is black widows?

I'd think the Army EOD team they brought in would know, and they whitewashed the evacuated zone, so it sure sounded like still active munitions.

On a nice Sunday afternoon, you'll have to dodge all the luxury SUVs of yuppies out antique-ing.

That's what I assumed, since every "gun buyback program has missile launchers turned in" story turns out to be empty LAW or AT-4 tubes, but it sounds like this might have been actual rockets:

As of 11 p.m. Saturday night, the missile fuses had been safely deactivated and U.S. Army personnel had removed the body of the missiles from the area. Normal traffic in the area has resumed and no injuries were reported.

Missiles or rockets?  Rockets wouldn't surprise me (LAW even AT4 or RPG).  Missiles?  That would be news (TOW, Dragon, etc...).

I'm guessing AT4 tubes.

But can I be held responsible if someone broke into my shed and disappeared with my land mine collection? And my shed? He used bolt cutters if it is of any relevance.

/Obscure?

Probably. I'd be kinda pissed if she turned in unexpended ones.

Heh, had an empty LAW launcher in highschool.  That thing was fun for dicking around with, especially in traffic/parking lots.

The army removed the fuses--that says they're at least somewhat live rounds.  They could still be trainers with a rocket but no real boom, though.

Why on earth would you call police if you didn't want your anti-tank weapons any longer instead of selling them to a militia, Mexican cartel, or al queeda?

I keep searching and searching without ever finding any old ammunitions.  I am disappoint.

Just in time for the 4th of July... A so-called "firearms expert and safety trainer" managed to shoot himself in the chest with a shotgun while cleaning it.  When the police came to investigate, they discovered "automatic weapons" in the house.  I expected to see a clapped out AR-15 in the picture but...

A freaking British tank in the back yard?
Four belt fed machine guns
What looks to be a Lahti 20mm anti tank rifle (too tall for the picture, leaning against wall)
300 rounds of 20mm shells
Two buckets of gunpowder???
23 military mechanical time fuses
blasting caps

Best of all... his vanity license plate is "IMASTIFF"
Tank was decommissioned - main barrel is plugged

Violating an ordinance may get you fined. Violating an ordnance may get your limbs blown off. In a bad way.

If you do a page search, there is a tag link "Kristen Umstattd" near the bottom which leads you to a page of articles mentioning her; apparently, she's the mayor.

I'm guessing that if we lived in Leesburg we would have knoewn that.

/but yeah, editorial fails
