Tony Stewart to be named Offensive Coordinator.

Gear Jammer does the...
Happy Dance!!!

Coach Joe is back, and there's gonna be trouble,
Hey-la, hey-la, Coach Joe is back
When you see him comin', better cut out on the double
Hey-la, hey-la, Coach Joe is back

Rumor has it that Coach Joe signed Gregg Williams to be his defensive coordinator. Recently the less than spectacular head coach of the Bills, but previously an excellent defensive coordinator for the Tennesee Titans.

In the 2000 season, the Titans' defense led the league in total defense for the first time in team history, and the 191 points they allowed were the third least in the NFL since the league began playing a 16-game schedule in 1978. The Titans also established the franchise's single-season records for sacks (55), fewest passing yards allowed (2,424), and fewest offensive touchdowns allowed (17).

More Happy Dance!!!

Gear Jammer don't get too excited. We all shiat our pants when we got Lou Holtz and thought we would be great now. This year we didn't even go to a bowl game. I know it's a different coach but I'm just saying.

lombardi? he's just where they left him. buried at the vince lombardi rest stop on the new jersey turnpike.

This is the best thing to happen to the Redskins since the '92 Super Bowl. Welcome back Joe!

Hehehe sorry DownSouth, but there ain't any containing the glee I currently feel from this news. My earliest childhood memories were of George Allen's Redskins, but my fondest teenage memories are of the Joe Gibbs era Redskins. He brought home the 'skins first Super Bowl on my 15th Birthday, and I've worshipped the man ever since.

I'm with ya Gear Jammer. We've posted in several threads about "Joe" already. This should make for some awesome Dallas-Redskins rivalry games. Oooooh man, if I were off today, I'd be down at Redskins Park acting like Papparazzi.

I can't freakin' wait for the old Dallas-Redskins, Tuna-Gibbs rivalry to heat back up. Under Gibbs it's all gonna be left out on the field. No more of this losing to Dallas, and laughing, and joking about it like some of the 'skins have done of late.

LOL downstairs.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Ditka era Bears back in action.

Well all except that silly ass "super bowl shuffle" thing anyway. ;)

Any Raider fans out there lookin' to get Madden back into the fold?

2004-01-07 12:41:44 PM
Word on the street is that Joe Bugle has signed on as an assitant coach for the homecoming as well.

Ahem Hey Charley Casserly you wanna come back, and have a little fun.

Vinnie Cerrato gives me the creeps anyway. Get 'em outta here.

2004-01-07 12:45:47 PM
If Madden comes back to coaching, I would love to see if he talks to his players the same way he announces.

"You see, the purpose of the pass is to get the ball into the recievers hands and hopefully BOOM you get a touchdown out of it."

Well no DUH.

2004-01-07 01:08:13 PM
Still have same owner. Still sucks.

2004-01-07 02:42:16 PM
Joe Gibbs may be a great football coach but I'll always think of him singing with his brothers in the BeeGees.

ChewbaccaX:

Every time I think about John Madden, I remember the time he and Pat Summerall were broadcasting a game. They were babbling on so much that they completely missed a touchdown being scored. The next thing you heard was Pat Summerall saying, "It looks like... something happened...."

If anyone has an MP3 of that, I would kill for it!

dukeblue is right. dan snyder is the problem.

a once classy franchise is now owned by a cranky 4-year-old with a load in his pants.

2004-01-07 05:28:17 PM
I'm Euphoric...

Its like falling in love for the first time all over again.

Welcome home Joe.

George Gipp?

2004-01-07 05:37:14 PM
I read that the Cards are going to offer Denny Green the head coaching position in Arizona.

/Just glad he's out of MN

2004-01-07 05:37:17 PM
Gregg Williams gave the Bills the NFL's 2nd best defense as coach last year despite the team's suckness. Skin's D wil be great next year.

2004-01-07 05:38:05 PM
Wow.. I can't believe it! Just a few days ago I was happy that we might have a chance at getting someone like Fassel.. and then this comes out of nowhere. We have a reason to be excited again this offseason!

2004-01-07 05:38:33 PM
Forget Ditka, let's dig up the old man.

OK, sooooo... the ghost and skeleton of George Halas versus an army of undead warriors and Manute Bol?

Halas!

wo0t!

Cowboys are still going to pwn the 'Skins.

2004-01-07 05:41:01 PM
Been out of the NFL for 11 years. Has the game changed too much? I think the Gregg Williams hire will help the Skins more than the Gibbs hire.

2004-01-07 05:41:11 PM
Looks the Redskins have finally found the next Joe Gibbs.

2004-01-07 05:41:20 PM
I think I'm gonna cry!!
Lifelong skins fan here

2004-01-07 05:41:48 PM
go3, you forget that the Tuna doesn't have LT around this time. As a Giants fan, I don't exactly rejoice in Gibbs coming back, but if he can get the Redskins to beat Dallas twice a year I'm all for it.

2004-01-07 05:42:04 PM
While I don't doubt Packer fans would rejoice at a Lombardi second-coming, I think they're doing just fine this season and certainly not to be included in a headline with the woeful Red Skins...

Now the question remains whether or not we'll have to deal with Spurrier on TV or if he'll slink back to the college football (I know there's plenty of anti-Zook kooks down there in Gatorworld).

2004-01-07 05:44:02 PM
His first order of business should be to attempt to have Jack Kent Cooke raised from the dead. I bet JKC's been spinning in his grave and would put a whoopin' on Dan Snyder if he were only alive today.

BTW, who would I need to give the cash and/or sexual favors to in order for one of my submitted links to be approved, anyway?

2004-01-07 05:44:22 PM
What no NASCAR comment yet?

2004-01-07 05:44:29 PM
Gregg Williams did put up a great defense in Buffalo. Too bad he farked up the offense.

Love to have Marv Levy back. I'm happy for the skins fans.

Now we have a chance at Fassel.

How many minority candidates did they interview before hiring Gibbs?

Spurrier will either go back to college or spend his days playing golf. Seeing Spurrier on the local DC media the last few years, I get the idea he hates the sports media. Of course who can blame him for that. Spurrier isn't articulate either.

Way to go, Uncle_Slacker

I moved away from DC 4 years ago. Bailey and Janson are the ONLY Skins left from then. I was just about to stop caring...now I want to get Sunday Ticket just so I can watch his first game back.

Ditka = Ass.

Hire Singletary as coach, draft Jarrett Payton. That would rule.

2004-01-07 05:49:35 PM
I don't think the skins interviewed Rhodes and Green yet. I know they had planned to. They were not allowed to interview Rhodes until last Monday when Seattle was out.

2004-01-07 05:50:05 PM
I think Denny Green has been offered every head coaching job in the league over the past three years.
